Revolut's customer data was leaked, hackers threatened to disclose more sensitive information daily

Attackers who had obtained sensitive customer information on Revolut appear to have begun publishing the data online, threatening to publish more data every day until "Revolut pays ransom."

According to a post posted on X by the International Cyber Digest on Sunday, the newly leaked information reportedly included selfies and copies of ID cards of tennis player Alexander Shevchenko and Gamdom CEO Felix Römer. Among them, Gamdom is an online cryptocurrency casino platform.

The attacker reportedly said on Telegram: "We will release more and more data every day until Revolut pays for leaking its customer information." Cointelegraph has contacted Revolut and Romer seeking comment.

Exposed ID documents and facial verification images may increase the risk of identity theft. On Friday, Revolut told customers that the leaked data also included the customer's full name, date of birth, occupation, contact information, account statements and a complete transaction history, including Bitcoin transaction records.

Previously, Revolut said customer data was leaked through forged government emails.

On Saturday, Revolut told Cointelegraph that the customer data breach was due to a "complex fake external fraud incident" in which the attacker used an email address from a legitimate government agency's domain name to submit fraudulent information query requests.

Later, Revolut added to Cointelegraph that the breach only affected a "limited number" of customers and that their systems and customer funds were not affected.
