Cosmos Hub resumes operations, Ledger ATOM wallet issues still exist

Core Points

The Cosmos Hub network has returned to operation.

Ledger Wallet still cannot display the ATOM balance.

Ledger Wallet still cannot send ATOM transactions.

Cosmos Hub is back up and running

The Cosmos Hub network has been back online after experiencing an outage. However, recovery of the underlying blockchain and access through wallet software are two separate concepts. Infrastructure provider QuickNode reported at 18:12 UTC on September 8, 2026 that the Cosmos main network appears to be stagnant at block 32,878,318th. This report time only represents the time when the service provider flags the problem, not the exact time when the chain stops running.

QuickNode stated that its node was restored and kept up with the latest on-chain blocks at 14:26 UTC on September 9, 2026. Simply put, its servers are once again able to keep up with the latest blocks on the network.

QuickNode reports that node has returned to the tip of the chain

Subsequently, QuickNode announced that the incident was resolved at 00:24 UTC on September 12, 2026. The company said the fix involved direct communication with Cosmos Labs and was linked to Cosmos Labs 'posts about the binary package used to resolve the incident. The report did not disclose the specific content of the software package.

"Our node has been restored and returned to the tip of the chain. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide further updates as needed."

For ordinary owners, the key point is that network recovery does not mean that all applications reading the network have returned to normal. This difference is the core of this case, similar to the previous disclosure by Cosmos that after the release of the Saga EVM vulnerability patch, users had to wait for the software to follow up.

Ledger Wallet still cannot display ATOM balances or send transactions

Ledger, a well-known hardware wallet manufacturer, initiated a Cosmos (ATOM) mainnetwork service interruption event at 19:41 CEST time (17:41 UTC time) on September 8, 2026. The affected components are listed as "Ledger Explorers (Cosmos (ATOM))", the service responsible for reading data on the chain for wallets.

Users face two separate issues. First, Ledger Wallet cannot display ATOM balances or transaction history. Secondly, it cannot send ATOM transactions. The initial notice also warned that adding accounts could also be affected.

Ledger's latest update was released at 16:12 CEST time (14:12 UTC) on September 10, 2026, indicating that recovery efforts are continuing while the relevant features are not available. As of September 13, 2026, the incident is still in the "identified" stage.

"Our team is continuing to work hard to restore Cosmos (ATOM) mainnet services. During this period, Cosmos (ATOM) balances, transaction history and transaction functions in Ledger Wallet will not be available."

One thing is crucial for anxious users: A wallet that cannot display a balance is not the same as a wallet that has lost funds. Display failure means that the application is currently unable to read and display numbers. This in itself does not explain any situation in underlying positions on the chain.

The impact this time is narrow and only involves accessing ATOM through Ledger wallets. Existing information does not point to hardware failures, network-wide transactions or problems with other assets. An independent report from CryptoSlate on September 13, 2026 also described the situation where Cosmos Hub was back up and running, but access to ATOM through Ledger Wallet remained unavailable.

ATOM's own price is trading around $1.61, with moderate fluctuations over the 24 hours, and there is no evidence that wallet interruptions caused this price change. Wallet reliability has always been a recurring theme in the cryptocurrency field, from the node restart and repair of Lightning Development Kit v0.2.6 to this Cosmos incident.

The recovery status of Ledger ATOM wallet remains to be confirmed

Existing information does not determine when balance display or transaction sending functions in Ledger Wallet will resume. Ledger's notice did not provide an explanation of the root cause or an estimated recovery time.

Before the event ends, two results need to be confirmed separately: the ATOM balance is displayed correctly again, and the transaction has been successfully sent. One of these may be fixed before the other, so you need to focus on both.

The cause, the number of users affected, and the availability of the validated solution were not confirmed. No specific vulnerabilities, attacks, or service providers have been identified as causing Ledger's continued outage.

Practical advice for ordinary holders: If your ATOM is stored on a Ledger device, the safest thing to do is to wait and follow the next update on the Ledger official incident page, rather than assume there is any problem with your funds. When problems occur on the network, from this incident to broader cross-chain incidents such as the Chainflip TRON vulnerability, patience and documented updates trump speculation.
