For the digital asset industry, the establishment of the group marks a decisive step in bringing real-world market activity to the chain. The initiative covers the settlement, collateral transfers and issuance of instruments such as funds, bonds and repo, rather than just underlying token economics. With its payment network and XRP Ledger, Ripple is positioned as a core infrastructure provider. Its recent $1.25 billion acquisition of prime broker Hidden Road (now renamed Ripple Prime and registered with the UK FCA) highlights its growing institutional influence. Bank Santander UK branch uses Ripple infrastructure to provide white-label solutions, further demonstrating this integration trend.
On-chain funds, bonds and repo are becoming mainstream solutions, and they already provide cheaper, faster and more efficient financial instruments than traditional systems. Based on research by Barclays and PricewaterhouseCoopers, economic analysis predicts that by 2035, the widespread adoption of tokenization in the UK could contribute £ 33 billion to economic output every year and increase tax revenue by £ 14 billion.
This shift is reinforced by the growing demand for blockchain native delivery and settlement infrastructure. In the past year, the volume of tokenized asset transactions on XRP Ledger has increased from $150 million to nearly $4 billion, and more than 500 institutional products are actively operating.
Future path and regulatory priorities
To further simplify capital markets, the report cited analysis by the Boston Consulting Group, which predicted that global real-world asset tokenization will reach US$88 trillion by 2035, far exceeding the expected size of the cryptocurrency and stablecoin market. The group's recommendations emphasize a hybrid network approach, where a permission-based agency framework intersects open non-permission-based chains to provide broad liquidity, as BlackRock demonstrated through Securitize's BUIDL tokenization fund launched on Ethereum. However, chain reorganization on public blockchains remains a settlement risk avoided by traditional infrastructure.
This ongoing transformation is part of a broader industry trend on Wall Street's transformation to Web3. Investors are increasingly exploring platforms such as 1stepSwap, which allow users to hold major U.S. stocks, gold and silver in their crypto wallets. This evolution of tokenization and instant price discovery of real-world assets (RWAs) has eliminated the need for traditional brokers, further simplifying market access and improving efficiency.
