Gas fees on Arc are paid in USDC, a stablecoin with more than $74 billion in circulation. Circle clearly pointed out that the finalization of online settlement can be completed in one second, and the verifier set is still Permitted. In addition, a confidential transaction option with view keys is also under development, aiming to enable future network-wide deployments.

Token minting and network architecture
Circle said that ARC's minting makes it "the first listed company to minting network tokens for the newly issued Layer-1 blockchain." ARC aims to coordinate network security, utility and governance. However, currently network charges are only processed through the USDC. The company further clarified that minting ARC "does not mean a commitment to publicly list ARC tokens."
Circle announced plans to transition its current Proof of Authority network architecture to a Proof of Stake (PoS) model by 2027. This exploration is expected to further decentralize the Arc blockchain in the future.
Development Milestones and Technical Compatibility
Circle initially disclosed Arc's plans in August 2025, opened its public beta network two months later, and announced its token plan at an industry event in Seoul in April 2026. According to the company, Arc TestNet processed more than 700 million transactions in less than a year.
Arc is fully compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), allowing smart contracts written based on Solidity on other platforms to run on Arc without modification.
Robbie Mitchnick, BlackRock's global head of digital assets, said in comments posted by Circle: "Dedicated blockchain helps accelerate the adoption of digital asset use cases, and Arc is clearly well positioned to serve stablecoins and payment use cases on a large scale."
