Strategy once again increased its holdings of Bitcoin, with its holdings exceeding 848,000.
According to regulatory documents filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Executive Chairman Michael Siler Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) led by Michael Saylor, purchased a batch of bitcoins (BTC) from its corporate treasury again from October 1 to October 4, 2026, with a total value of approximately US$28.7 million.
Another transaction, another milestone
The SEC filing disclosed that the average price of this purchase was approximately US$85,839 per Bitcoin. Funding came mainly from two sources: $15.7 million came from net income from MSTR stock sales, and $13 million came from the company's U.S. dollar cash reserves.
This acquisition increased Strategy's total bitcoin holdings to approximately 848,000. As of this time, the total cost base of its Bitcoin holdings was approximately US$63.97 billion, with an average acquisition price of US$75,441.
Although the purchase appears moderate compared to the large purchases earlier this year, it further highlights the company's determination to systematically accumulate Bitcoin. The company regularly reports its bitcoin activity to U.S. regulators, typically publishing purchase details on Monday via Form 8-K.
Leading business owners, evolving financing structures
Since Strategy changed its name from MicroStrategy in February 2025, it has consolidated its position as the world's largest publicly traded Bitcoin holder. The company uses a hybrid model of equity issuance and cash reserves to fund its continued purchases. This capital structure model has been refined over the years. In addition, its preferred stock products, including variable rate STRC instruments, also played a role in raising funds for expanding treasury positions.
The company's strategy remains simple and clear: accumulate bitcoin, measure performance through the "BTC yield"(the change in diluted bitcoin positions per share), and use institutional capital market funds for further purchases. As of early October 2026, Strategy holds approximately 4% of its Bitcoin fixed supply of 21 million units. This concentration gives the company huge influence in the field of enterprise encryption.
Given that Bitcoin is trading at a price much higher than Strategy's combined average cost, its treasury positions have generated considerable paper gains. However, the company has always positioned its positions as long-term stores of value rather than trading assets.
