StarkWare首席执行官Eli Ben-Sasson向他的追随者提问，为了“后量子敏捷性”而转为L1是好主意还是坏主意。他的推理基于Rollup（二层扩展方案）的运作方式。作为以太坊上的Layer 2，Starknet的安全保障源自以太坊，因此其抗量子安全程度仅取决于底层链的安全性。

他强调，以太坊必须“迅速行动”，否则成为L1的选择可能会被提上日程。运行自己的链将使Starknet能够按照自己的节奏发布安全更新。其证明机制已经依赖于哈希函数，这被认为是抗量子的，而6月30日发布的路径图涵盖了替换剩余的椭圆曲线部分。
Ben-Sasson引用了以太坊研究人员的警告
在该公告发布的前一天，以太坊基金会研究员Justin Drake呼吁区块链和加密货币行业“冷静地开始规划‘掩体模式’”。他担心的是，由AI驱动的数学计算可能会在量子计算机真正到来之前，就破解ECDSA（一种保护比特币和以太坊钱包的签名方案）。他表示，在最坏的情况下，这种情况可能在几个月内发生，而不是几年。
他呼吁的“掩体模式”是指将资金转移到从未暴露过公钥的新地址，同时警告不要仓促行事。第二天，这种威胁论得到了呼应，Ben-Sasson指出，量子计算和快速发展的AI共同要求采取“掩体模式”。
其他以太坊Layer 2正在选择关闭而非转型
The proposal comes as the Rollup project is going through a difficult time. Blast announced on October 2 that it would cease operations because the cost of running the chain was higher than the revenue, and gave users until October 26 to withdraw cash to the main network. The Abstract chain associated with Pudgy Penguins also announced its own closure plans in early October.
Starknet is in a different position, with a total lock-in value (TVL) of approximately US$168 million. The way it leaves Ethereum is more like a "graduation" than a "termination", and STRK buyers seem to price according to this logic.
A vote has not yet been scheduled
Despite the sharp price fluctuations, a shift to L1 is still just an idea. There are currently no formal proposals and no governance votes. StarkWare's own roadmap states that any changes to the Starknet protocol level will need to be approved through its governance process, and neither the October 8 post nor Ben-Sasson's tweet thread gave a timetable for the decision.
Moving towards independence will also put Starknet fully responsible for its own security, which is much heavier than relying on the world's second-largest blockchain. The token has fallen back from a 24-hour high and the market is still trading based on intention, and any governance proposal will provide traders with a more solid pricing basis.
