Bitcoin failed to push weekend rally above $84,000
Bitcoin failed to push weekend recovery above $84,000. Selling pressure limits BTC's upside, while the altcoin market presents a completely different picture. NEAR, FIL and ICP achieved double-digit gains; Ethereum stood at $2,550 and XRP regained the $1.40 mark.
Bitcoin is blocked by US$84,000 resistance
Bitcoin has previously tried to break the US$87,000 mark, but encountered selling pressure. After experiencing its first correction, BTC once rebounded to US$86,600, but failed to peak higher. Selling pressure from this level accelerated the price decline.
Bitcoin fell back to US$83,500 as the US$85,000 support fell. The subsequent rebound did not last and the price fell further to $80,400. This meant that BTC lost approximately $7,000 in just a few days.
Bitcoin rebounded to US$83,500 on Friday and was mainly consolidating sideways around US$83,000 over the weekend. On October 12, the price briefly broke through $84,000, but then suffered seller pressure again and began trading below this level.
According to CoinMarketCap data, the market value of Bitcoin has rebounded to US$1.68 trillion. At the same time, BTC's dominance in the cryptocurrency market dropped to 59.35%.

NEAR, FIL and ICP achieve double-digit growth
As Bitcoin struggled at the $84,000 mark, many altcoins ended the day's trading on a rising note. Despite a significant net outflow of funds from the spot ETH ETF last week, Ethereum (ETH) rose more than 2% in a single day and traded above $2,550. XRP also broke through the key $1.40 position that has plagued it for many days.
The dynamics of today's outstanding altcoins are as follows:
- NEAR: continued double-digit gains, hitting US$5.80.
- FIL and ICP: Among them are altcoins that achieve double-digit gains.
- ZRO, ALGO and VVV: attracted attention with their one-day gains.
- ZEC: rose 6.3%, regaining the US$1,300 mark.
- SOL, DOGE, LINK, HYPE, TRX, BNB, XMR and ADA: all recorded one-day gains.
As HYPE once again targets the US$90 mark, the positive atmosphere in the altcoin market has further expanded.
The total value of the cryptocurrency market rises
The rise in altcoins is also reflected in the valuation of the entire cryptocurrency market. According to CoinMarketCap data, the total market value of all crypto assets rose 1% to $2.83 trillion.
The market landscape shows that Bitcoin's rebound has not yet established sustainability above US$84,000. However, double-digit gains in altcoins such as NEAR, FIL and ICP suggest that daily market performance is not entirely dependent on Bitcoin. However, current data alone cannot tell whether these increases will translate into lasting trends.
