Multi-chain technology refers to the ability to leverage multiple blockchain networks, usually by combining the unique functions and advantages of different chains.

In contrast, cross-chain dApps run on multiple different smart contracts deployed on multiple different blockchains. This allows assets to flow between unrelated blockchains, using smart contracts to enable seamless interactions between networks.

Multi-chains focus on leveraging the advantages of different blockchains to achieve different purposes, while cross-chains facilitate the transfer of data or assets between different blockchain networks.
