BTC Strategy Chairman Michael Saylor hints at possible purchase of Bitcoin again
Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy, ticker: MSTR) Chairman Michael Saylor posted a brief message on the X platform suggesting that the company may be about to make a new round of Bitcoin (BTC) purchases. "There will always be room for more orange," he wrote. The post did not confirm the specific buying behavior, size or timing, but investors have learned to pay close attention to such signals.
The latest disclosure document shows details
According to an 8-K filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Strategy purchased 334 bitcoins, worth approximately $28.7 million, between September 28 and October 4. The acquisition is relatively small. As of the time of Siler's disclosure, the company's total holdings of bitcoins had reached 848,000, a record high, with a market value of approximately US$73 billion. This amount is equivalent to more than 4% of the total supply of 21 million bitcoins.
The purchase was funded by stock sales and cash reserves. Strategy completed the transaction using proceeds from the mark-to-market offering of its Class A common stock (MSTR) and its U.S. dollar cash reserves.
It is worth noting that during the same period, the company invested far more in preferred stock repurchase than in Bitcoin purchases. Strategy spent $176.3 million to buy back approximately 1.77 million preferred stock (STRC) shares, which is more than six times the amount spent on Bitcoin purchases. Cryptocurrency media CryptoSlate described the Bitcoin acquisition as the company's smallest positive Bitcoin increase in 2026.
