Data breaches occur frequently between law firms and the cryptocurrency industry

Reuters reported on Thursday that international law firm Greenberg Traurig said an unauthorized person accessed a small number of documents and posted them on the dark web. This report reflects the increasing trend of data breaches against law firms. Reuters pointed out that BakerHostetler Law Firm handled nearly 60 cybersecurity incidents involving law firms in 2025, almost double the number in 2024.

According to the "2026 Data Security Incident Response Report" released earlier this year, BakerHostetler analyzed more than 1,250 incidents across industries in 2025, of which phishing attacks accounted for 30% of all incidents.

According to Reuters, other law firms have also disclosed data breaches. For example, in March 2026, Taft Stettinius & Hollister detected abnormal activity in a system, resulting in the disclosure of customers 'social security numbers (SSN). In May of the same year, London-based Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer stated that unauthorized access resulted in the exposure of social security numbers, government ID numbers and health records. In addition, a suspected intrusion at WilmerHale in May triggered a proposed class action lawsuit.

Recently, Goodwin Procter disclosed an incident on August 7;Quinn Emanuel stated that on August 14, a social engineering attack that used deception to obtain information or access rights occurred, resulting in an account being breached and exposed stored files.

Cryptocurrency companies have also experienced leaks of personal information

Cryptocurrency companies have also disclosed leaks involving customers 'personal information. In May 2025, Coinbase announced that criminals had stolen the personal data of 69,461 users, including names, addresses, phone numbers and government ID images, by bribing overseas support personnel. The exchange said no funds, passwords or private keys were stolen. Coinbase refused a $20 million ransom request and instead offered an equivalent reward to gather information that could help arrest and convict the attacker.

In January 2026, Ledger confirmed that its e-commerce partner Global-e had been compromised, resulting in the disclosure of order data for some Ledger.com customers. A Ledger spokesperson said in a statement to Decrypt: "This incident involves unauthorized access to order data in the Global-e information system. Some of the data accessed involved customers who purchased products on Ledger.com through Global-e as a merchant of record."

In August this year, SafePal announced a vulnerability in its order-tracking plug-in that exposed the personal information of approximately 39,798 customers, including names, emails, shipping addresses, phone numbers and purchase details. The company said wallet credentials and payment information had not been affected, and that the vulnerability had been fixed and customers had been notified.

Earlier this week, Trezor said hackers compromised its third-party email provider and sent phishing emails disguised as security alerts. These emails falsely claim that hardware flaws threaten users 'recovery mnemons. Trezor said it had closed the malicious domain name and was investigating the breach.
