Hyundai Card Acceleration Blockchain Roadmap: Completed stablecoin corporate payment pilot on the Avalanche network
Hyundai Card, the financial services division of Hyundai Motor Group, is accelerating the implementation of its blockchain strategy after implementing stablecoin-based corporate payments. This move marks a substantial step for the company in exploring more efficient cross-border settlement methods.
Expand the scale of blockchain-based enterprise payments
Nam Heejung, head of modern card payment and business development, emphasized that after the successful pilot, it is necessary to prove the feasibility of the system on a larger scale. Nam pointed out that the real challenge is to prove whether the stablecoin payment model can break through the limitations of proof of concept and operate effectively in practical applications.
"The next step is to prove that the entire operating model can operate normally on a large scale. If we can successfully scale up, then the economic model will fit." Nam said.
Currently, Hyundai Card is testing whether its blockchain infrastructure can support the significantly larger transaction volume and higher operational complexity required for Hyundai Motor Group's global operations.
Pilot details: Real cross-border settlement
Avalanche is a Layer-1 Proof-of-Stake blockchain designed to enable high-throughput and low-latency transactions and is often used in decentralized applications and payment scenarios.
Next steps and commercialization prospects
Many large companies have explored blockchain-based transactions, but most of these tests are still at the demonstration stage. The Hyundai Card project stands out because it uses stablecoins for substantial inter-company payments rather than just simulating activity on the test network.
If the pilot is successful, it could pave the way for blockchain-based settlement infrastructure to become a regular part of the company's Treasury process. However, Hyundai Card has not yet set a timetable for full group-wide adoption, nor has it committed to full commercial deployment.
Currently, the company continues to evaluate the scalability and reliability of blockchain solutions in enterprise applications, aiming to redefine the cross-border corporate payment experience within the automotive industry.
