Two major developments in the field of institutional digital assets are converging
Canton Network recently confirmed that Ripple Custody has completed its integration work. Cryptocurrency analyst Chad Steingraber was keenly aware of the timing and commented: "It happened at the time of the launch of DTCC. It's interesting how things go, isn't it?" This integration and the upcoming DTCC tokenization release have created a dual catalyst additive effect, and XRP is at the heart of these two key events.
The significance of Ripple Custody integration
Ripple Custody now supports Canton Coin and CIP-56 tokens. Institutions can now hold and transfer Canton assets within their existing hosting platform without relying on additional service providers. Each institution runs its own node, and existing policy controls are automatically applied to every Canton transaction. For institutions that already use Ripple Custody, Canton assets are now held alongside other assets they hold. This integration eliminates friction and comes at a time when institutional demand for tokenized assets is accelerating.
DTCC pilot project
DTCC tokenization service is scheduled to be officially launched commercially this month. The service enables institutions to hold tokenized representative forms of securities held by DTC, including Russell 1000 Index stocks, major exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and U.S. Treasury bonds. At launch, Canton Network was one of two blockchains run by DTCC, the other being Hyperledger Besu.
DTCC processed its first real-life production transactions on July 15, verifying the stability of the infrastructure before commercial launch. Currently, more than 100 companies, including Goldman Sachs, BNP Paribas and Bank of New York Mellon, have joined the DTCC Industry Working Group.
Why XRP benefits
XRP acts as a bridge asset in the Ripple network. Canton is responsible for the private clearing layer of institutional ownership records. The two are not in a competitive relationship, but operate together as complementary infrastructures. Ripple Custody is connected to Canton, which means Ripple's institutional customers can directly access the same network that DTCC uses to tokenize securities. This connection puts XRP-related infrastructure at the center of large-scale real-world asset settlements.
Community response
Steingraber emphasized the timing link between Canton integration and DTCC release, pointing out that this coordination is no accident. Some observers believe that this opportunity was pre-arranged years ago, which adds background information to what some people see as a "surprise". One user posted a price chart for XRP, pointing out that the development came at a timely time and could help the asset escape its recent downward trend. Another community member was optimistic that the news would have a positive impact on XRP. Another user takes a longer-term perspective and believes that holders who accumulate positions at low positions need not worry too much regardless of the short-term trend.
