The government of Kyrgyzstan has ordered the suspension of the operation of the gold-backed U.S. dollar stablecoin USDKG, terminated all blockchain activities, and instructed token holders to convert the tokens into legal tender or USDT (TEDA) before they are permanently destroyed. The shutdown is directly based on Order No. 639-t issued by the Council of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic on August 20, 2026. The issuer issued a termination notice on its official website, confirming that under government orders, business, including all blockchain network activities, has been suspended.
Impact of government orders on USDKG
USDKG is a stablecoin designed to maintain value stability. Unlike most stablecoins backed by the U.S. dollar, USDKG claims that their value is pegged 1:1 to the U.S. dollar and is backed by gold reserves. The token runs on two blockchain networks: Ethereum and Wave Field. According to the issuer's notice, the project is not voluntarily downsizing, but is implementing an order issued by the Council of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, which is being implemented by terminating all operations.
Token holders have been required to contact USDKG directly to exchange their tokens for fiat or USDT (the world's most widely used dollar-pegged stablecoin). Although the issuer has not announced a specific deadline, since the government order has taken effect, holders should act as soon as possible.
