Ripple transfers a large amount of RLUSD between XRP Ledger and Ethereum networks, with a market value of nearly US$2.4 billion.
Ripple has recently made significant progress in the cross-chain transfer of RLUSD, the stablecoin it issued. With the asset's market capitalization rate approaching US$2.4 billion, RLUSD is moving increasingly frequently on the XRP Ledger and Ethereum networks.
Increase in casting and destruction activities
The Ripple stablecoin tracker recently showed that the RLUSD vault on XRP Ledger has just completed the casting operation of 14,394,224 RLUSDs, after 10 million RLUSDs had been destroyed on the same ledger. Shortly thereafter, another 15 million RLUSDs were removed from the supply of the Ethereum network.
In just a few days, these three transactions involved approximately US$39.4 million in RLUSD-related activity. Such "minding-destroy" cycles reflect Ripple's strategy for managing its stablecoin issuance and treasury liquidity, rather than a direct increase in circulation supply. The company has not publicly disclosed detailed information on the specific source or purpose of each transaction that supports the flow of RLUSD.
These RLUSD casting and destruction transactions that occurred on the XRP Ledger and Ethereum networks totaled approximately US$39.4 million in the short term, highlighting Ripple's dynamic treasury management approach. As of the latest data, the value of RLUSD held on the Ethereum network is approximately US$1.38 billion, while the value of RLUSD held on XRP Ledger is approximately US$1.03 billion. There is a gap of approximately US$350 million between the two, and recent activity suggests that RLUSD is gradually tilting towards the Ethereum network.
Although the new RLUSD casting volume on XRP Ledger slightly narrowed the gap, Ethereum still holds the majority of RLUSD supply. As market conditions evolve, continued treasury transactions on two blockchains suggest that Ripple is actively managing liquidity.
As of September 11, the market capitalization rate of RLUSD was close to US$2.4 billion, up from approximately US$2.26 billion at the beginning of the month. The average daily trading volume is approximately US$114 million, indicating RLUSD's growing position in the stablecoin market.
Ripple promotes compliance and institutional adoption
Treasury activity during this period follows Ripple's release of a new version of its Institutional Client Guide, which highlights the RLUSD regulatory framework. As a technology company focusing on enterprise-level blockchain solutions and digital payments, Ripple emphasized in its materials that RLUSD is entirely backed by cash and approved cash equivalents on a 1:1 ratio, with assets held in segregated reserves. The company stated that institutional customers can directly mint and redeem RLUSD through Ripple Mint and enjoy redemption rights and supervisory guarantees under established regulations.
Ripple's recent publicity highlights its strategic ambition to use RLUSD as a core component of financial institutions such as payments, tokenization, lending and custody services. As global regulatory review intensifies, these compliance-focused efforts reflect a general trend among major stablecoin issuers to try to address challenges through differentiation.
Still, the Ripple team clarified that treasury casting reflects internal liquidity needs rather than direct retail or institutional needs. August data showed that approximately US$449.3 million of RLUSD was minted on XRP Ledger over a 30-day period, while approximately US$448.9 million was destroyed during the same period, resulting in almost precise turn-over balance of supply.
Ripple's stablecoin management involves frequent adjustments to ensure sufficient market liquidity and maintain a balance between XRPL and Ethereum-based reserves, a management strategy that is particularly important as RLUSD continues to become popular in institutional applications.
