The OKX joint venture filed an application with the US SEC to launch a tokenized stock trading platform
It is organized by cryptocurrency exchange operator OKX and Intercontinental Exchange Inc., the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange. The jointly formed joint venture OKXICE LLC has formally filed a document with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), announcing plans to launch a Tokenized Securities Venue (TSV) under the new innovation exemption framework of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Andrew Cuomo, co-chairman of the joint venture, said the platform will cover more than 60 companies listed on the American Stock Exchange. He added: "This is an important milestone towards a truly global, round-the-clock 'Wall Street' and will help ensure that the future of digital finance is firmly rooted in the United States."
In June this year, OKX and Intercontinental Exchange Group established a 50% joint venture with each shareholding to build the infrastructure for tokenized financial products. Then in September, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission issued a temporary exemption order allowing limited trading of tokenized U.S. stocks on certain on-chain platforms.
Under this innovative exemption, tokenized securities venues (TSV) can provide license-based trading services for tokenized National Market System (NMS) stocks through market makers and liquidity pools.
