Zcash advocacy group officially submits lobbying registration in Washington to promote crypto-asset policy development

An advocacy group focusing on Zcash has submitted a lobbying registration application in Washington, D.C., a move that marks the privacy-oriented cryptocurrency ecosystem is increasing efforts to influence the direction of U.S. digital asset policy.

The organization is called "Pretty Good Policy for Zcash"(PGPZ), and its lobbying registration takes effect on October 1. Registration information shows that Executive Director Divij Pandya is the only designated lobbying representative. According to registration documents, PGPZ's current and expected lobbying issues include the Digital Asset Market Clarification Act and two tax proposals related to digital assets.

Background and Development History

PGPZ was officially established in June this year and evolved from the "Pretty Good Policy for Crypto" project launched by Electric Coin Co. in 2022. Previously, the initiative held a policy roundtable in Washington in 2023 and organized a congressional briefing on encryption technology.

Core goal: Ensure Zcash's policy voice

Paul Brigner, founder of PGPZ and chief policy and regulatory officer of ZODL, said the group's goal is to "ensure Zcash has serious, organized and credible policy engagement in Washington." He further emphasized: "Policymakers are making decisions that will directly affect whether privacy-protecting digital cash can exist, be used legally, and serve the public interest. PGPZ is committed to ensuring that Zcash's philosophy is fully understood, effectively represented and strongly defended in these key dialogues."

Financial Support and Future Outlook

In August this year, the Zcash Community Funding Committee approved a $750,000 grant to support PGPZ's first year of operations.
