Ethereum Economic Zone (EEZ) successfully tests atomic transactions between the Ethereum main network and a Layer 2 network
According to project contributors, Ethereum Economic Zone (EEZ) has successfully completed an atomic transaction between the Ethereum main network and a Layer 2 network. On Tuesday, EEZ contributor Eduardo Antuña Díez shared details of the transaction and called it the "first atomic cross-chain" L1 to L2 transaction.
The transaction log records show that this cross-chain call carried 0.001 Ether (ETH) and triggered a status update for Rollup. The so-called atomic transaction means that a series of operations associated between different networks must be performed as a whole: either they all succeed, or if any of them fails, the entire operation will be completely rolled back.
In March this year, the development team behind EEZ stated that the framework aims to allow Rollups to interact with each other and with the Ethereum main network in a single transaction without relying on traditional bridging mechanisms. The goal of the project is to reconnect the mobility and application ecosystems scattered across different Layer 2 networks.
Friederike Ernst, co-founder of Gnosis, previously told the media that the lack of synchronous composability forces each protocol to maintain independent deployments on multiple Layer 2, resulting in the fragmentation of liquidity in multiple markets. Jakub Gregus, co-founder of DeFi protocol Hydration, called the demonstration "one of the most important milestones" in the field of encryption and pointed out that the technology is expected to directly benefit the Ethereum ecosystem.
