SHIB The destruction of Shiba Inu coins in August reached 588.2 million pieces, but the monthly destruction rate dropped by 6.14%
According to data from the community destruction tracking platform Shibburn, the Shiba Inu coin ecosystem removed a total of 588.2 million pieces of SHIBs from circulation in August. Despite significant quantities destroyed, the monthly destruction rate fell by 6.14% from the previous month, reflecting a significant slowdown in activities compared to July.
Falling sharply from July's record pace
August data marks a significant gap from July. In July, communities destroyed 3.24 billion SHIBs, a 1395% monthly destruction rate. That surge brought the total monthly destruction to its highest level in months, a momentum many community members had expected to continue into August. However, activity slowed significantly.
Since the launch of Shiba Inu, the cumulative destruction volume has exceeded 410.8 trillion SHIBs, accounting for about 41% of the initial total supply of 1000 trillion yuan.
The main destroyer in August
WoofSwap V3 became the largest known destroyer this month, sending 194 million SHIBs to the destruction address through 17 transactions.
Centralized exchanges also occupy an important position on the rankings. CEX.IO destroyed 61.41 million SHIBs through five transactions, and Robinhood transferred 39.04 million SHIBs through 101 separate transactions. Coinbase transferred 17.28 million SHIBs to dead wallets through 11 transactions, ranking among the main contributors. ShibLaunchpad was also involved, sending 23.18 million SHIBs to the destruction address through 28 transactions.
The participation of major retail brokers such as Robinhood and Coinbase, as well as dedicated ecosystem platforms such as WoodSwap, shows that even in calmer months, the destruction mechanism can attract widespread participation in the crypto space.
Once the token reaches the destruction address, it can no longer be accessed or returned to circulation. Although a certain number of tokens were destroyed in August, destruction activities remained sluggish in early September, with zero destruction reported in the first few days of the month.
