The daily destruction of Shiba Inu coins has cooled significantly
According to Shibburn's data, the daily destruction of Shiba Inu coins (SHIB) has cooled significantly recently. In the past 24 hours, the number of SHIB tokens destroyed has dropped by nearly 93% compared to the previous trading day.
Weekly data presents a different picture
Despite the sharp decline in single-day data, the broader weekly trend remains positive. Total destruction increased by 76.73% over the past seven days, during which time approximately 150 million SHIB tokens were permanently removed from circulation. A comparison of single-day and weekly data highlights the volatility of destruction activity between trading sessions, indicating that short-term snapshots are not a reliable basis for judging overall deflationary trends.
The token destruction mechanism is to send SHIBs to inaccessible blockchain addresses (commonly referred to as "dead wallets"), and once transferred, these tokens can never be restored or re-entered into circulation. The Shibburn platform tracks these transactions and aggregates them into daily, weekly and monthly data closely watched by the community.
The historical cumulative destruction volume exceeded 41% of the original supply.
This further expands the perspective. The current cumulative destruction volume accounts for about 41% of the original total of Shiba Inu coins. According to Shibburn statistics, a total of 410,843,579,789,609 SHIBs have been destroyed through more than 21,000 transactions, accounting for 41.08% of the initial supply of 1 trillion units. This means that about 589 trillion SHIBs are still in circulation.
Most of the historical cumulative destruction can be traced back to a landmark event. In June 2021, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin decided to destroy 41% of all SHIB tokens he held. Previously, he accidentally received half of the total number of tokens donated by the token founder. Since then, community-led destruction activities and ecosystem mechanisms have continued to reduce the supply of tokens.
Analysts pointed out that investors should not view destroying statistics in isolation. Higher destruction rates have a positive effect on long-term supply management, but this does not necessarily lead to an immediate price appreciation. Currently, the daily cooling phenomenon reminds us that even if the weekly trajectory is upward, destruction activities are still highly irregular.
