Grayscale launches four model portfolios to help digital asset investors
Grayscale recently released a plan containing four model portfolios aimed at providing institutional and individual investors with structured, goal-oriented digital asset exposure. The move builds on the company's existing exchange-traded product (ETP) product line and is mainly aimed at financial advisers who want to deploy crypto assets on a large scale.
Each portfolio is built around unique investment goals and provides recommended allocation ratios in the digital asset ecosystem. All four portfolios use a market capital-weighted strategy, rebalancing quarterly, and the upper weight limit for individual assets is set at 40%.
Details of the four major investment portfolios
1. Digital Assets Core Plus
This portfolio is designed to provide broad exposure to mature digital assets, combining Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) with select head assets such as Solana (SOL) and Chain Link (LINK). It adopts the market value weighting method and is rebalanced quarterly, with a maximum weight limit of 40%.
2. Digital Assets Leaders
This portfolio is designed to provide exposure to the top five eligible digital assets held in gray single asset ETP. As market leadership evolves, the portfolio will be adjusted to ensure continued access to leading assets.
3. Digital Assets Next Gen
This is a portfolio that covers crypto assets and is designed to provide exposure to mature and emerging digital assets, but excludes Bitcoin and covers the broader digital asset market.
4. Digital Assets Infrastructure
This portfolio focuses on protocols that support smart contracts, tokenization and related blockchain infrastructure, providing investors with a way to support the ecosystem foundation rather than a single currency.
Further expansion into the mainstream financial field
Established in 2013, Gray is the world's largest investment platform focusing on digital assets and has been at the forefront of introducing digital assets into mainstream finance. The company has a long history of "firsts", including launching the first Bitcoin and Ethereum exchange-traded products in the United States.
Gray continues to expand its product range by providing a comprehensive investment product line covering ETFs, private equity funds and diversification strategies, giving investors, advisers and institutional allocators access to a wide range of digital assets. The launch of the model portfolio is another important step in this direction, providing a pre-built configuration framework rather than leaving the allocation plan entirely to individual advisers or investors.
The timing of this launch reflects a broader shift in the industry. Financial advisers face growing demand from clients for exposure to digital assets, but often lack the tools to efficiently deploy and configure them. Gray's model portfolio aims to fill this gap by packaging the ETP family into well-defined, regular rebalancing strategies.
