Chainlink's 95% surge triggered a bearish signal, raising the risk of profit-taking

Chainlink (LINK)'s upward momentum wanes, short-term correction risks rise

After a strong rebound, Chainlink (LINK)'s price surged from about US$7 to a recent high of US$13.77, an increase of nearly 95%. Although this trend has brought significant benefits to investors, chain analyst Ali Martinez pointed out that multiple indicators show that the risk of a correction in the short term is increasing.

Martinez specifically mentioned that after LINK rose sharply, a sell signal for the TD Sequential indicator appeared on its weekly chart. This suggests that the tokens may enter a consolidation phase or may face new selling pressure if demand starts to fade.

At the same time, on-chain activity among large LINK holders also declined significantly. Martinez reported that the volume of transactions worth more than $1 million dropped from about 59 to about 10 in two weeks.

The sharp decline in high-value trading volumes suggests that participation by whales (large holders) is cooling as LINK prices approach recent highs. Although the decrease in whale activity does not necessarily mean that they are selling, the decrease in participation of major market participants may make it difficult for the rally to maintain its original pace without stronger demand support.

In addition, changes in exchange balances add reasons for caution. According to analysts, about 1.75 million LINK have been transferred to the exchange recently, causing the number of LINK positions on the trading platform to increase from approximately 269.25 million to approximately 271 million.

Although LINK has retreated from its recent highs, the token has gained more than 5% in the past week, highlighting the strong momentum of its recent price rise.

Long-term bullish views remain

However, these mixed signals have not stopped some analysts from maintaining a long-term bullish view. Analyst Michaël van de Poppe suggested that Chainlink is one of the few cryptocurrencies expected to convert a $10,000 investment into $100,000 by 2029, reflecting his expectation that LINK will add significantly in the next few years.

On the other hand, crypto analyst Crypto Patel also maintained a bullish stance after LINK rose about 90% from $7. He pointed out that LINK has settled above the high time frame key level of $10.87, and said that if it can remain above the region, it is expected to look further towards the target prices of $50 and $100. https://zyrypto.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/image-22-1024x563.jpeg

As of press time, LINK's trading price was US$11.43, up 1.54% in the past 24 hours.
