Sahil Arora: The “Celebrity Coin” Operator from Pump.fun to Fomo

In 2024, a series of celebrity-related meme coins attracted attention in the market. Sahil Arora, the person behind these projects, recently launched another new coin. Previously, Floyd Mayweather’s social media account briefly promoted this coin. In an interview with Decrypt, Arora said that this marked his “return”. He hopes to replicate the success of celebrity coins on the Fomo platform on the Solana chain—the same strategy he used when he became famous on the Pump.fun platform.

A controversial past

Arora gained fame due to a series of celebrity-related meme coin projects he launched on the Pump.fun platform in 2024. Initially, it was Caitlyn Jenner, a former Olympic athlete, who accused Arora of “scamming”. Later, Arora became involved in several projects that were considered “rug pulls” by celebrities and industry experts, or outright frauds.

His latest project is the “Floyd Money Mayweather” meme coin, which was launched on the Fomo platform. After reaching a market value of $1 million on Wednesday, the coin plummeted by 96% within three hours. According to multiple social media accounts, Mayweather’s account sold the coin from its wallet for a profit of $5,000 after promoting it. Although the coin later reached a market value of $1 million, resulting in a larger profit for the wallet, Arora said everything was part of his plan.

The carefully orchestrated narrative and the ambiguity surrounding the data

reveal that the entire event was planned. He believes that the narrative of “Macee’s missed opportunity to profit” played a key role in driving up the price of these tokens. Foma is a trading platform that integrates social elements, allowing users to view their buying and selling records. This level of transparency can easily lead to viral spread of information.

Arora claims that he made seven-figure profits from selling those tokens through other wallets. However, blockchain analysis company Bubblemaps doubts this claim. Bubblemaps told Decrypt that the wallets involved in this transaction only made a profit of approximately $105,000, while the top 100 traders collectively earned just $306,000. Therefore, the analysis firm believes the numbers reported by Arora are not credible.

Nevertheless, it seems that this cryptocurrency promoter benefited significantly from this scheme, and he plans to repeat the same tactics in the future. “We will replicate everything we did on Pump.fun in 2024, but with better strategies, so that participants can also make money,” said Arora. When asked about his new strategy, he replied, “This time, it won’t be a one-time sell-off.” This contrasts sharply with previous projects where prices dropped by more than 90% in just seconds, leading to accusations of “pool dumping.”
