XRP price forecast: These factors will determine the trend in September

XRP prices have entered key technical levels, and the suspense about September's trend remains unresolved.

XRP prices began trading in early September near a key technical area that will determine whether the August rally continues to develop or begins to disintegrate. During August, XRP prices rose sharply from below $1 to nearly $1.70, although buyers failed to keep XRP at that high level at the close of the month.

September brought XRP back to the familiar game area. Prices have rebounded from the critical $1.30 area and are currently trading at around $1.44. The rebound has brought XRP closer to resistance, but derivatives data shows there is a huge clearing area on both sides of current prices. As a result, market performance in the coming days will provide a clearer picture.

XRP needs to get out of the volatile range that has dominated its price trend for most of 2026.

XRP will be in the US$1.30 to US$1.57 range for most of 2026.

XRP prices started poorly in August, with tokens falling from approximately US$1.06 to near a monthly low of US$0.98. Buyers then regained control, pushing XRP higher to about $1.699, but another round of reverse movement caused the price to fall back to about $1.37 at the close of the month.

If combined with the broader 2026 structure, this wave of market in August is particularly interesting. From February 4 to June 1, XRP fluctuated between US$1.30 and US$1.50 most of the time before eventually falling below that range. August brings XRP back to this familiar territory. Looking at the XRP price chart, you can see that there are two levels that are crucial for September: support near $1.30 prevents XRP from falling back into the lower part of the 2026 range, and resistance near $1.57 is the barrier between current prices and testing again August highs.

The broader structure can be summarized by the following horizontal line:

  • US$1.30: The main support level that bulls need to defend.
  • US$1.57: A key resistance level that could open the way to August highs.
  • US$1.70:XRP's insurmountable main upper resistance level.
  • US$1.00: If US$1.30 falls below, the relevant deeper support level will be found.

XRP has not recorded a convincing closing price above $1.70 since early February. A breakthrough was attempted in August, when the XRP price reached about $1.699, but eventually the seller pushed it back to around $1.37. This history makes the move to exceed $1.57 particularly important. A sustained breakthrough could allow XRP to challenge $1.70 again, while stronger follow-up momentum could take $1.80 into consideration in September.

XRP clearing data shows that there are major price regions around US$1.44

CoinAnk's derivatives data provides another useful perspective on the current layout. The clearing map shows the XRP price of $1.4465, with leveraged positions concentrated on both sides of this price. Significant clearing exposure occurred in the $1.42 to $1.44 area below the market. Another significant concentration area appears in the $1.46 to $1.50 range above current prices.

The liquidation heat map supports this interpretation. Intensive liquidity appears in the US$1.39 to US$1.43 area below the XRP, while another significant band has formed around US$1.49 to US$1.50. These concentrations are important because once prices enter these areas, highly leveraged positions can lead to faster price movements. A downward movement may force leveraged long positions to close their positions; a upward movement through nearby upper clusters may put pressure on short positions.

The key is that no clearing area can guarantee direction. The data only shows where volatility may increase if XRP leaves the current region.

XRP open interest data shows derivative activity remains significant

Accompanying open interest data also shows that derivatives exposure on major exchanges is considerable. Binance currently has the largest open interest on display XRP at approximately $542.9 million. Several other exchanges also hold significant positions:

Exchange XRP open interest Binance US$542.9 million Bybit US$372.26 million Gate.io US$333.03 million Bitget US$304.89 million Hyperliquid US$247.32 million OKX US$123.77 million 89]

Open interest by itself does not tell us whether XRP will rise or fall. But it suggests that a large amount of leverage exposure remains active, which is more relevant because the liquidation heat map already contains many huge concentrations close to current XRP prices. Therefore, the price direction weights around $1.30 and $1.57 should be higher than pure open interest data.

Three main scenarios for XRP price forecasts point to September

Technical structure and derivatives data leave three reasonable paths for XRP in the coming days:

Bullish scenario

XRP remains above near-term support and eventually breaks through $1.57. Such a move would put $1.70 back into focus. A convincing break through that resistance could extend the September target to $1.80.

Neutral scenario

XRP continues to be trapped between approximately $1.30 and $1.57. Prices may continue to fluctuate around the $1.40 area as buyers and sellers are unable to establish control outside the broader range.

Bear scenario

XRP lost US$1.30 support and closed convincingly below that support. Previous price movements in 2026 suggest that a break below this zone could expose the $1.00 zone, and middle support could slow down the decline before that level.
