XRP ETF recorded a net inflow in a single day, but it is difficult to shake Bitcoin's long-term dominance.
During the trading session on September 8, XRP-related exchange-traded funds (ETFs) recorded a net inflow of US$1.55 million. This performance allowed XRP to surpass Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana on the day, but it did not shake the absolute advantage of Bitcoin funds in cumulative capital flows.
Summary of Market Overview
- Capital Flow: On September 8, the XRP ETF achieved net inflows, while Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana and Hyperliquid-related products all experienced net outflows.
- Short-term lead: XRP's lead only lasted for one day, still lagging far behind Bitcoin in terms of weekly and cumulative capital flows.
- Price Performance: XRP prices rebounded to around US$1.43, an increase of nearly 3%.
- Trend confirmation: Continuous performance for multiple positive trading days is required to confirm whether there has been a sustained rotation of capital.
XRP ETF becomes the only category to attract new funds
In the U.S. market, XRP ETF, which had previously experienced zero capital flow, has resumed capital inflows. The net subscription amount was approximately US$1.55 million. At the same time, the other three mainstream crypto asset classes all recorded outflows of funds. Among them, the Bitcoin ETF notably interrupted the net inflow trend for three consecutive trading days, and the data came from SoSoValue.
The distribution of funds on September 8 is as follows:
- XRP ETF: Net inflow of US$1.55 million;
- Bitcoin ETF: Net outflow of US$46.65 million;
- Ethereum ETF: net outflow of US$24.29 million;
- Solana ETF: net outflow of US$667.72 million;
- Hyperliquid-related ETF: net outflow of US$12.96 million.
It can be seen that among these five types of products, XRP funds are the only product that attracts new funds.
This lead is limited to a single day
Although the XRP ETF performed well in a single day, its relative size is still limited. Currently, the five spot XRP ETFs manage total assets of US$1.51 billion, and according to reported data, their cumulative net inflows are close to US$1.69 billion. The $1.55 million recorded on September 8 accounted for less than 0.1% of this historical total. In the past month, these products have attracted approximately $173 million in funding, so single-day data accounts for only 0.9% of the total for the month.
In addition, the comparison with Bitcoin is even more dramatic. The cumulative net inflow of Bitcoin ETFs is nearly US$55.59 billion, which is about 33 times the size of XRP funds. This gap is also confirmed in weekly data: in the week ending September 4, Bitcoin ETF absorbed $986.9 million, while XRP funds only absorbed nearly $19 million during the same period.
Although XRP outperforms other cryptocurrencies on specific trading days, it does not dominate weekly capital flows or cumulative subscriptions. To confirm whether there has been a sustained rotation of capital, it still needs to be verified by the continuous performance of multiple positive trading days.
XRP prices rebound to US$1.43 range
Affected by the inflow of funds on September 8, XRP prices rose nearly 3%, returning to the US$1.43 region, ending a downturn that had been in the previous several days. However, this synchronized rise does not prove to be directly triggered by ETFs. Compared with the average daily trading volume in the spot and derivatives markets, the inflow of US$1.55 million is still modest (moderate/minimal).
In addition, ETF flow data cannot accurately identify the final buyer. It mainly measures share creation and redemption, but does not always distinguish institutional investors from other participants. Future confirmation will depend on the regularity of the subscription. Therefore, if Bitcoin and Ethereum continue to be under pressure, the XRP ETF needs to maintain positive capital flows for multiple trading days, otherwise this excess performance will only remain at the level of daily fluctuations.
