FollowingSenate Democrats prepare counter-proposal on crypto market structure bill
According to reports, although Republican lawmakers described it as the "last, best and final" proposal for Democrats when they released the text of the latest revised CLARITY Act on Sunday, Senate Democrats committed to legislation on the crypto market structure are preparing a counter-proposal.
Democratic lawmakers in charge of the bill met Monday in the office of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-Calif., according to Politico. It is reported that some Democrats are still dissatisfied with the crypto industry ethics provisions in the latest bill text.
Senator Mark Warner told Politico as he left the meeting: "Democrats who have been involved in this work in good faith are submitting a counter-proposal."
The counter-proposal came on the eve of a key Senate procedural vote on Tuesday. The vote will determine whether the Senate can move the bill into full review.
