The sell-off was compounded by large outflows from U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs). On Sept. 15, those ETFs saw net redemptions of about $450 million. This shift is in stark contrast to the improved ETF inflows shown in previous sessions, significantly weakening one of Bitcoin's main sources of demand.
Strong ETF demand played a key role in supporting Bitcoin prices during previous rallies. Analysts stressed that continued outflows made it difficult for Bitcoin to recover important resistance levels such as $80,000, as gains require continued spot buying support rather than relying solely on the momentum of leveraged traders.
Maintaining institutional interest through spot ETF inflows has been the main factor driving Bitcoin's rise, but continued divestments have posed challenges to breaking the $80,000 mark.
Market outlook: Focus on key points
Bitcoin's near-term technical outlook depends on whether buyers can hold current support levels. If it can rebound above US$77,000, it will lay the foundation for another attempt to break through US$80,000, and the area near the recent high of US$82,000 will also come back into view. On the other hand, if Bitcoin fails to hold on to the US$74,000 level, analysts warn that the risk of a deep correction will increase, and a potential downside target may point to the US$72,000 to US$72,500 range.
If US$74,000 falls, the market may quickly see Bitcoin testing the US$72,000 - 72,500 region.
Faced with regulatory and macroeconomic headwinds, Bitcoin's short-term trend remains full of uncertainty. Traders are paying close attention to ETF capital flows and support levels for further direction guidance.
