Elon Musk's SpaceX is internally discussing acquiring the remaining customer files of failed start-ups. This is not about licensing data from companies that are still operating and have the right to refuse, but rather buying digital assets from companies that no longer exist because the latter cannot object to it. According to people familiar with the matter, the discussions took place within SpaceXAI, the artificial intelligence division, which was established in February this year as a product of the merger of SpaceX and xAI. The current discussions are still informal and may not ultimately reach any results. But from the perspective of an artificial intelligence laboratory competing to explore the frontiers of technology, this idea is quite reasonable.
Getting cheap "fuel" for Grok
The goal is basically to get cheap training data for the Grok model. Artificial intelligence models continue to improve performance by learning training data-the text, code, and records of algorithm research to improve their ability to predict subsequent content. And high-quality data, such as real business records rather than crawled web content, is becoming increasingly expensive. By contrast, the archives of a bankrupt company are clearly a good deal.

根据《美国破产法》第 11 章的规定，允许陷入困境的公司清算资产以偿还债务的程序中，客户数据库被视为与办公家具同等性质的资产，并通过拍卖方式出售给出价最高者。没有人会询问客户的意见，因为在法槌落下之时，公司已不复存在，客户也无从投诉。
马斯克强调数据继承与模型进化
SpaceXAI 希望以完全相同的方式，从处于上述境地的初创企业那里获取运营数据和客户信息，以便继续利用真实企业的实际运作方式来训练 Grok 模型。
在今年八月的一次 SpaceX 全员大会上，马斯克表示公司将不仅限于购买外部数据，还将挖掘自身的数据。“它将继承你的思想”，据报道，马斯克曾这样告诉员工。
马斯克将此举描述为一种特性，而非缺陷。他告诉员工，要将自己视为在“抚养”这个模型，因为它将在吸收他们工作成果的同时，也吸收他们的观点，但他并未明确说明哪些类别的员工数据将被实际使用或如何使用。
SpaceX 于七月发布了 Grok 4.5，这是自 xAI 合并完成以来推出的首个模型。此外，马斯克还完成了另一项价值 600 亿美元的 Cursor 收购交易，并且 Grok 的新版本预计将在不久的将来推出。
