According to the New York Times reported on September 21, Fairshake, the cryptocurrency industry's largest political action committee (PAC), decided to invest up to US$30 million to prevent former Senator Sherrod Brown from returning to the Senate. The large-scale campaign is aimed at the special U.S. Senate election held in Ohio in November this year.
During the 2024 U.S. election, the super political action committee invested $40 million in Brown to confront it. Now, Fairshake is once again increasing its investment, demonstrating its strong influence in key elections.
Who is Sherrod Brown?
Brown is a member of the Democratic Party and served as the U.S. Senate from Ohio from 2007 to 2025. During his tenure, he served as chairman of the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee. However, he lost his 2024 re-election bid and failed to win a fourth Senate term to Republican candidate Bernie Moreno, and Fairshake's intervention played a role in the process.
