BTC A Missouri coffee shop leads the wave of regional adoption of Bitcoin
A small coffee shop in Farmington, Missouri, is rapidly transforming into a central hub for cryptocurrency adoption in the region after embracing Bitcoin payments. Coljac Café, operated by the owner and located in downtown Farmington, has now become the focus of the local growing Bitcoin ecosystem.
Bitcoin implementation drives business and community development
This cafe introduced Bitcoin as a payment option after local cryptocurrency enthusiasts began gathering regularly at the venue. By working closely with these customers, the store owner has integrated the Coinos.io platform, allowing the checkout desk to process both Bitcoin and Lightning network transactions. Coljac Café subsequently moved its cashier operations to Square, a major payment processor that accepts Bitcoin payments at more than 1 million merchants around the world.
The latest data shows that in the past year, Bitcoin transactions accounted for about 5% of the store's total revenue. On weekends when scheduled bitcoin parties are held, up to 50% of morning sales are made through BTC. In addition, all Bitcoin transactions in the store are free of fees, which goes beyond traditional credit card payment methods in terms of cost effectiveness.
