Key Facts

According to the Financial Times, two affiliated companies of cryptocurrency market maker DWG Labs, DWG Maas and Falcon Digital, have filed a lawsuit against custodian service provider BitGo in the High Court of London, claiming a claim amount of US$141 million.

The plaintiff accused BitGo of violating an over-the-counter (OTC) agreement by selling FF and ESPORTS tokens before the agreed lock-in period expired, causing the price to fall. BitGo declined to comment, and the charges have not yet been confirmed in court.

Core of the case: Lock-up clauses and illegal selling

The core controversy in this case lies in the "Lock-up Terms." Such clauses are designed to limit the ability of token buyers to sell tokens within a specific period of time, thereby controlling the amount of new supply flowing into the market to maintain price stability.

Plaintiffs Mingwei Maas and Falcon Digital stated that according to reports from the Financial Times, BitGo violated an over-the-counter trading agreement covering the tokens. The agreement stipulates an initial lock-up period of three months, followed by further phased unlocking restrictions. The plaintiff alleges that BitGo sold the relevant tokens before these restrictions expired, putting downward pressure on market prices and reducing the value of the remaining tokens in the plaintiff's hands.

DWG Labs lawsuit alleges token sales by BitGo

The lawsuit has brought a cryptocurrency market maker and a major custodian to the forefront. It is worth noting that BitGo has been expanding its transaction services business recently and acquired NYDIG's institutional trading division in August this year.

DWG Labs has previously participated in a number of large token sales transactions. For example, the company spent $25 million to purchase World Liberty Financial tokens in 2025.

In addition, the company also closely monitors the trading performance of new tokens after they are listed. A report in February this year showed that more than 80% of tokens listed in 2025 were trading at a price lower than their listing price.

Market Data Review

According to CoinMarketCap data, as of press time, the FF token price was approximately US$0.107, a decline of approximately 29% in the past 30 days; during the same period, the ESPORTS token fell approximately 19%.
