Bitcoin leads Taurex's list of top ten investment assets in October 2026 with a real return rate of 633.2%.

In Taurex's October 2026 comparison report of top ten investment assets, Bitcoin ranks first with an inflation-adjusted real return of 633.2%, surpassing traditional assets such as silver, U.S. stocks and gold. Although the report pointed out that Bitcoin's nominal price fell by 25% in the past year, its cumulative real return is still as high as 633.2%.

Overview of performance of major assets

In the study's ranking, silver ranked second with a real total return of 60.7%, followed by the S & P 500 index (including dividends) at 57.3%, and gold ranked fourth with a return of 55.5%. The study evaluated a total of ten assets, seven of which achieved an increase in purchasing power after adjusting for inflation.

Taurex included cryptocurrencies, precious metals, stocks, real estate, farmland, cash and bonds in its detailed October analysis. It is worth noting that Bitcoin is the only cryptocurrency included in the ranking in this evaluation. The researchers adjusted for investment returns using a cumulative U.S. inflation rate of about 25%, to more accurately compare changes in purchasing power across assets. The report's calculation method covers dividends and interest (where applicable) rather than relying solely on changes in quoted prices.

Bitcoin: A leader in bucking the trend of growth

Despite facing annual downward pressure, Taurex still gave Bitcoin a cumulative real rate of return of 633.2% and a real compound annual growth rate of 49%. Its cumulative earnings are more than 10 times that of silver, far ahead of all positive income assets. In comparison, the performance range for other positive-income assets ranges from 1.6% for U.S. real estate investment trusts (REITs) to 60.7% for silver.

It should be noted that the report does not rank solely based on performance in the latest year, but is based on cumulative real returns. For Bitcoin, the platform summary describes its performance since 2020, while the methodology section involves four and five year tracking periods, so there are differences in the specific holding periods mentioned in the report.

Institutional view: Capital outflows are not sector rotation

Recent reports have also recorded investors withdrawing funds from Bitcoin and gold. Previous analysis pointed out that the Bank of America analyst team led by Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou believes that the demand for transactions related to currency devaluation is decreasing. Exchange-traded funds tracking both asset classes have suffered outflows over the past two weeks, while institutional positions in Chicago Mercantile Exchange futures have also appeared weak, the bank said.

Bank of America emphasized in its assessment: "This is not a shift in Bitcoin funds to gold; rather, both asset classes are facing a simultaneous decline in demand."

Silver and U.S. stocks surpass gold

Among traditional investment products, Taurex ranks silver above gold and the S & P 500. Silver's cumulative real rate of return is 60.7%, and the real average annual growth rate is 9.9%. The cumulative real rate of return on gold is 55.5%, with an annualized growth rate of 9.2%. According to the platform's investment example, if you invest US$10,000 to buy gold at the starting point, its purchasing power is equivalent to approximately US$15,500 in 2020.

The S & P 500 index, including dividends, provided a real total return of 57.3% and a real average annual growth rate of 9.5%. Relevant data from Taurex shows that the nominal cumulative increase in the index is about 96%. In the five calendar years discussed in the report, U.S. stocks have risen in four years, including gains of approximately 29% in 2021 and approximately 25% in 2024. The report points out that 2022 is a loss year, with a decline of about 18%.

Inflation Data and Market Reaction

For U.S. investors, Taurex's comparison uses U.S. price inflation and domestic stocks, housing, farmland and bonds. Its inflation adjustment of about 25% covers cumulative price increases over the study period rather than a single annual inflation reading. Previous reports on Bitcoin's lackluster response to CPI showed that market response was limited after the release of the consumer price index in July, when the annual core inflation rate was 3.4%, with a monthly increase of 0.1%.

In that report, Bitcoin rose from approximately US$63,800 to US$64,100 in four hours, an increase of approximately 0.47%. The article also mentioned that in the first week of August, the inflow of funds from the U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF reached US$854 million. It was reported at the time that before the CPI was released, perpetual contract trading activity fell to a three-year low, while the options market expected Bitcoin volatility of only 1.3%.

Other asset performance: Property appreciation, cash and bonds shrink

After the top four assets, Taurex ranks U.S. house prices fifth, with a real total return of 18.6%, and a real average annual growth rate of 3.5%. U.S. farmland followed closely, with cumulative inflation-adjusted gains of 10.4%, with an annualized growth rate of 2%.

For U.S. real estate investment trusts (REITs), the report recorded cumulative real returns of 1.6%, equivalent to an annualized growth of 0.3%. This is the lowest-ranked asset that outperforms the inflation benchmark studied.

At the bottom of the list, Taurex gave U.S. savings account cash a real total return of minus 18.2% and an average annual growth rate of minus 3.9%. Its account summary also cited data showing that 34% of Americans have a savings account interest rate of at least 4%. U.S. composite bonds recorded a real total return of minus 22.2% and an annualized result of minus 4.9%. Palladium is at the bottom, with a cumulative actual loss of 62.7%, and the actual average annual growth rate of minus 17.9%.
