Bitcoin prices have stabilized in the range of US$82,900 to US$83,000, facing a key "hard backtest" test
Bitcoin prices have stabilized in the narrow range of US$82,900 to US$83,000, hovering near key psychological support levels. After a strong rally in the autumn, the leading cryptocurrency is now entering what technical analysts call a "hard backtest" phase, retesting previously breached resistance levels to assess the strength of buyer support.
Technical analysis highlights key prices
The results of this backtest are likely to determine the direction of the cryptocurrency market by the end of this year. Aksel Kibar, a technical analyst who focuses on chart morphology, emphasized that since May 2026, global stock markets have increasingly shown a pattern of repeated backtesting after breakthroughs, and this trend is now also in the cryptocurrency field. It has been confirmed.
Kibar attributed these market dynamics to a combination of global liquidity pressures and weakening momentum. This environment means that large assets, including Bitcoin, will find it difficult to maintain their upward trajectory without a significant technical correction. "The same could be the case with cryptocurrencies," he commented.
This technical reset period affects Bitcoin's price trend throughout the year. In July, Bitcoin found support at $57,800, setting the stage for subsequent gains. By September, it broke through the two main resistance points of $71,500 and $76,100, establishing strong upward momentum.
(Hard retest):In technical analysis, a hard backtest refers to asset prices falling back to resistance or support levels that were previously breached, testing whether buyers will defend the area and confirm continued trends.
Long-term holders show resilience
Despite the cautious tone and short-term risks, Bitcoin's chart model does not signal panic selling or widespread capitulation. The cryptocurrency is still about one-third below the all-time high of $126,080 set in October 2025. However, large long-term investors avoided large-scale liquidations, demonstrating continued confidence in the asset's fundamentals.
While the probability of a temporary break below $80,000 remains high, many market participants view the current retracement as a technical respite rather than the beginning of a larger adjustment. "Still hold," Kibar concluded of broader market sentiment. The fate of Bitcoin's current trend is likely to be decided in the next few days at the key level of $82,800.
