Tom Lee: AI and robotics will drive growth in demand for Ethereum
Tom Lee, chairman of BitMine, believes that future demand for Ethereum will be closely connected to artificial intelligence, robotics and autonomous machines that require blockchain verification and control. He predicts that Wall Street tokenization trends and proxy AI will enhance Ethereum's role as a settlement layer for financial activities. At the same time, BlackRock remains committed to its investment logic of using Bitcoin as an alternative monetary asset, even as funds are shifting to AI-themed equity funds.
AI development drives demand for Ethereum
According to Lee's analysis, AI capabilities are accelerating along the steep S-curve and demonstrating stronger collective coordination capabilities. He believes that blockchain and smart contracts can allow humans to continue to participate in AI-driven activities. Lee also pointed out that robotics is another potential blockchain application scenario-when robots ultimately surpass humans, blockchain is needed to verify and control their behavior.
Lee wrote in the report: "We believe Ethereum is an important downstream narrative for AI development. "He described Ethereum as a key foundation layer for these application scenarios. This view is based on Lee's core judgment: As AI and robotic capabilities improve, cryptocurrencies will become more important. At the same time, he also agreed with BlackRock's assessment that Bitcoin application scenarios continue to expand.
BlackRock maintains Bitcoin investment logic
BlackRock pointed out that although the price of Bitcoin has fallen by more than 50% from its October 2025 high, its core investment logic has not changed. The report positions Bitcoin as an emerging global currency alternative and portfolio diversification tool. Reports show that during the decline in Bitcoin, funds have shifted to AI-themed equity funds. However, Lee used the report to further strengthen his Ethereum theory. [TAG
Lee also linked the ETH/BTC ratio to previous cryptocurrency cycles, citing the 2017-2018 initial coin offering, the 2020-2021 NFT, and the 2025 stablecoin cycle as references.
Tokenization vs. AI-driven Lee's Ethereum View
For the upcoming cycle, Lee expects Wall Street tokenization trends and the use of proxy AI for blockchain to drive the ETH/BTC price up. He linked Ethereum to the development of tokenized assets on the chain, arguing that this would make Ethereum an important settlement layer for financial activity. BitMine, meanwhile, has accumulated Ethereum through multi-million dollar purchases. The company, chaired by Lee, is said to hold approximately 4.8% of Ethereum's circulating supply.
Lee is also the co-founder of Fundstrat and previously linked Ethereum to artificial intelligence. His latest comments bring AI, robotics, tokenization, and Ethereum into the same market narrative framework.
