Flowra launches Solana validator new infrastructure: Blockspace auctions combined with programmable trading strategies

Flowra has launched a new infrastructure that combines competitive blockspace auctions with programmable trading strategies, built specifically for Solana validators. Its Open Orderflow Auction allows registered searchers to compete for trade inclusion rights rather than relying on closed order flow channels, while its independent Programmable Block Policy feature gives validators greater control over how blocks are constructed.

The auction aims to introduce wider competition to Solana's MEV (Maximum Extractable Value) market. Searchers compete to include their trades in blocks by identifying opportunities such as arbitrage. Flowra said that by creating an open bidding market, the validator can reach more competing participants and potentially reap higher returns from the block space it controls.

In an early test involving a single validator, Flowra reported a 20.6% increase in computing units per block. The validator has increased from 84% of the network average to 101%, and the block fee incurred is also higher than that of similar validator software. According to Flowra, the test also achieved 100% block productivity and 99.999% block engine uptime.

The programmable block policy layer solves a different problem: it allows the validator to define its own transaction inclusion requirements. This allows institutional operators to introduce compliance or risk control measures without having to enforce the same rules across the Solana network.

Flowra recently announced a partnership with compliance infrastructure company Honeypot, which will bring sanctions and risk screening capabilities into the programmable policy layer.

Harry Hwang, CEO of Flowra, said: "By opening up block construction to transparent competition, we are creating a more efficient market for block space while making validators fully verifiable and auditable, have greater control over how blocks are built."

This model is inspired in part by Ethereum's competitive block building ecosystem-in which builders build blocks for proposers through competitive bidding. Flowra believes that although Solana networks differ in performance and latency requirements, a similar market-based structure can also be applied to the network.

The company is currently introducing an institutional-level validator and is expected to include a wider range of participants as open order-flow auctions expand in the Solana ecosystem.
