Traditional financial trading activity surges
The tokenized stock market is gaining momentum
Binance launches physical delivery options, covering more than 1000 U.S. stocks and ETFs, and are only open to qualified international users.
The trading process is executed through Nest Trading in Abu Dhabi and transferred to Alpaca Securities for clearing and custody.
Binhang's traditional financial perpetual contract trading volume soared to US$433 billion in August, a significant increase from US$29.5 billion in January.
The tokenized stocks sector has expanded to a total market value of US$2.6 billion, compared with US$346 million 12 months ago.
Competitive platforms, including Coinbase, Kraken and Robinhood, have also broadened stock trading channels for users around the world.
Binance has launched options trading capabilities covering more than 1000 U.S. listed stocks and exchange-traded funds for qualified customers outside the United States. This progress is another milestone in Binance's strategic expansion into traditional financial instruments.
Big news: Binance now offers options trading on more than 1000 U.S. stocks and ETFs, and its traditional financial perpetual contract trading volume has soared to US$433 billion.
Users can now trade call and put options on stocks such as Tesla and Nvidia directly through Binance accounts.
Trading volume of equity-linked perpetual contracts has grown rapidly from US$41 billion...
Delivery of these options products will be through Nest Trading Limited, a brokerage entity under Binance regulated by the Abu Dhabi Global Markets Regulatory Authority. As an introducing broker, Nest will forward trading orders to Alpaca Securities, a U.S. registered financial institution, which will be responsible for transaction execution, clearing processes, settlement operations and asset custody.
These contracts use a physical delivery mechanism. At the time of exercise, the holder will actually receive or deliver the stock itself rather than receiving the equivalent cash value.
Eligible retail participants can purchase call and put options contracts. Risk exposure is limited to initial royalties. Binance said it plans to gradually expand its catalog of stock options products and add more listed varieties.
Traditional financial trading activity surges
The launch of the options business is an extension of Binance's existing equity infrastructure. In June this year, Binance provided trading channels for more than 7000 U.S. listed stocks and ETFs to its global clients.
In August, Binanhang's traditional financial perpetual contract trading volume climbed to US$433.4 billion. That figure is a significant increase from the January baseline of $29.5 billion and an increase of about 15 times since the beginning of the year.
Equity-linked perpetual contracts drove most of this growth. These instruments alone generated US$342.9 billion in trading volume in August, compared with US$410.9 million in January, accounting for approximately 79% of total traditional financial transactions.
Bybit has also announced its entry into this field. The platform will launch continuous options for stock perpetual contracts on September 17, and the first batch will be launched on SpaceX and Nvidia. Unlike Binance's approach, Bybit's products will use USDT cash settlement and refer to stock perpetual contracts rather than directly holding stock positions.
The tokenized stock market is gaining momentum
Cryptocurrency platforms are not the only players pursuing this trend. Over the past 12 months, the tokenized stock ecosystem has experienced significant growth.
According to RWA.xyz, the total market value of tokenized stocks is currently approximately US$2.6 billion, compared with approximately US$346 million a year ago. Monthly transfer activity in the past 30 days increased 93% to $25.1 billion; the number of holders surged 157% to nearly 2.5 million.
Coinbase recently deployed its tokenized stock products on the Base blockchain, providing eligible international users with continuous access to mappings on stock chains such as Apple, Nvidia, Meta and Alphabet.
Kraken expanded its trading channels for more than 7000 U.S. listed stocks to eligible European clients in August, tying them with the existing xStocks tokenized product line.
Robinhood launched Robinhood Chain in July this year and provides stock tokens to qualified individual users from more than 120 countries.
Binance described the launch of the options product as an important part of its ambition to develop into a comprehensive multi-asset trading platform, providing international clients with functions traditionally limited to traditional brokerage platforms.
