Key Highlights

In August 2026, Robinhood's cryptocurrency trading volume increased by 61% month-on-month to US$17.5 billion. Among them, the acquired exchange Bitstamp contributed US$10.1 billion, exceeding the US$7.4 billion from the Robinhood app itself. Compared with the US$28.1 billion in cryptocurrency trading volume in August 2025, the year-on-year decrease was 38%.

predicts that the market contract trading volume will reach 4.7 billion, a 15-fold increase compared with the same period last year. Total assets managed by platforms (AUM) increased by 26% year-on-year to US$384 billion.

Robinhood disclosed that its cryptocurrency trading activity showed a significant month-on-month surge in August, with trading volume climbing to US$17.5 billion from US$10.9 billion in July. The 61% monthly increase marks a recovery from weak summer trading, although the platform's performance still lags behind 2025 levels.

According to Binance Research, monthly trading volume of tokenized stocks soared to US$7.9 billion in August, a 33-fold increase, with bStocks and Robinhood currently accounting for 87.8% of tracked trading volume.

When reviewing year-on-year data, the outlook becomes less optimistic. Trading volume in August 2026 was 38% lower than the US$28.1 billion recorded in August 2025, indicating that the platform's cryptocurrency business has not yet fully regained its previous momentum.

Bitstamp, the European cryptocurrency exchange that Robinhood completed its acquisition in June 2025, processed US$10.1 billion in transaction volume in August. This represents a month-on-month increase of 53%, but is still below Bitstamp's August 2025 performance of 30%.

At the same time, the core Robinhood app contributes $7.4 billion to the monthly total of cryptocurrencies. This figure is a 72% improvement from July, but reflects a 46% year-on-year decline.

Taken together, Robinhood's cryptocurrency platform's average daily trading volume throughout August was approximately US$565 million.

Event contracts show explosive annual expansion

Although cryptocurrency trading volume has recorded a considerable monthly increase, Robinhood's forecast market sector has experienced significantly higher growth rates on an annual basis.

In August, the trading volume of event contracts on the platform reached 4.7 billion. Although activity fell 23% from July, this is about 15 times the 300 million contracts traded in August 2025.

Second-quarter financial data showed that event contract revenue reached US$156 million, exceeding the US$100 million generated by cryptocurrency transactions. In the same quarter, cryptocurrency trading revenue fell 38% year-on-year.

The company promotes event contract trading through multiple channels, including Kalshi, ForecastEx and Rothera (a collaborative project launched in June). By the end of the second quarter, Rothera had brokered deals in more than 3.5 billion contracts.

Since January this year, U.S. lawmakers have proposed more than 10 bills involving forecasting markets, and the current discussion focuses on whether specific types of contracts should be subject to derivatives regulation or a gambling framework.

Blockchain networks experience expansion and technical challenges

Robinhood Chain, the company's proprietary blockchain infrastructure, has shown significant appeal. As of September 1, the daily trading volume of decentralized trading platforms operating on the network was approximately US$1.6 billion, a 61% increase from four days ago.

The blockchain launched a public mainnet on July 1, supporting tokenized stock trading in more than 120 international markets, excluding U.S. customers.

On September 4, the network was interrupted for 14 minutes, temporarily suspending block generation. Robinhood confirmed that client account balances remained intact and that traditional brokerage services were not disrupted.

As of the end of August, the total assets managed by the Robinhood platform reached US$384 billion, a year-on-year increase of 26%. The company has 28.6 million funding accounts, and its margin loan balance rose to $21.5 billion.

Robinhood Markets, Inc., After HOOD

released August operating data, Robinhood shares closed down 0.83%. Financial analysts at Mizuho and StoneX raised their price forecasts for the stock during the same trading week. The company's earnings conference for the next quarter is scheduled to be held on November 4.
