Although Cronos token destruction reduces the available supply, it does not guarantee a price increase. Liquidity, demand, reserve allocation and broader market conditions still affect CRO's trading performance. Coingecko showed daily trading volume of close to $5.82 million and a market value of approximately $3.31 billion. These data show that the turnover rate associated with destruction announcements is relatively limited compared to token valuations.
This leaves a practical difference between governance approval and continued trading interest. A small supply of tokens alone cannot reveal whether demand will grow enough to support long-term gains.
CRO buybacks link monthly destruction to transaction revenue
Proposition 37 commits 100% of Ult and Cronos Launch revenue to token purchases and destruction. Cronos Labs said existing capital will cover operating, infrastructure and growth expenses rather than using revenue from these products.
Both token economics proposals have been passed.
- 228,000,000 CROs have been destroyed from community pools, bringing the cumulative total to 428,000,000 CROs.
- 100% of Ult and Cronos Launch revenue will now be purchased on the open market and destroyed monthly, and the hash value of each transaction will be announced.
The Cronos Token Destruction Framework directly links supply reductions to activities on both products. Ult generates trading revenue, while Cronos Launch collects fees associated with tokens created and traded on its launch board. Monthly destruction provides a timetable for removing purchased tokens, and published transaction hashes allow independent verification. Community members can check the number of executions rather than just relying on announcements about future commitments.
Under the Cronos Token Destruction Program, published records help compare revenue commitments with the actual number of tokens purchased and destroyed. Transaction records verify execution, while a separate revenue report will explain whether the purchase reflects all revenue from both platforms. The proportion of income is fixed, but the purchase budget is not. For example, around $0.0669,$100,000 (before fees and execution costs) could purchase approximately 1.5 million CROs.
This calculation highlights why product revenue remains a core measure for future CRO repurchases. More usage can generate larger purchases, although lower revenue reduces the number of tokens purchased. Pledged rewards retain their current parameters, including existing lock-in periods and bonus structures. The strategic reserve will support payments during the emission reduction period, separating incentive funds from revenue committed for monthly destruction.
