Bitwise Investment Director: Strategy's selling of Bitcoin has not weakened market demand
Bitwise Investment Director Matt Hougan pointed out that although Strategy sold more than US$200 million worth of Bitcoin, the rise in BTC prices indicates that there is still strong buying demand in the market. Hougan emphasized that the sell-off did not mean the company was facing financial difficulties, but rather was a routine operation as part of a capital management strategy.
Designed to meet dividend and cash flow management needs
According to Hougan's assessment, Strategy's bitcoin sales should be regarded as part of its capital management strategy to meet the company's dividend payment and cash management needs. Therefore, this transaction does not reflect an increase in selling pressure in the Bitcoin market, nor does it mean that Strategy was forced to reduce its position due to funding problems.
The change in institutional roles will reshape the market landscape
As one of the largest institutional investors holding Bitcoin for a long time on the balance sheet, Strategy plays an important role in the market, and its trading trends have always attracted investors 'attention because of its potential impact on Bitcoin prices. However, Hougan said he expected the Strategy's influence on Bitcoin prices to gradually diminish over time.
The Bitwise executive believes that as institutional investors account for a larger proportion of the market, they will increasingly play the role of the main marginal buyers of Bitcoin. This shift is expected to expand the Bitcoin market to a wider investor base. In particular, the rise of spot Bitcoin ETFs, asset management companies and other institutional investment vehicles is driving the increasing diversification of sources of capital flowing into the market.
Strong demand independent of a single entity
Hougan's view suggests that despite massive selling by large Bitcoin investors, prices continue to rise, proving that there are enough buyers in the market to absorb these selling. This phenomenon is further evidence that bitcoin demand can be strengthened independently of the trading activity of a single company.
