Despite years of regulatory uncertainty, traditional financial companies have begun to invest in the cryptocurrency space. Exchange-traded funds (ETFs), tokenization platforms and various digital asset products are key examples of this initiative.
Therefore, the CLARITY bill is not the starting point for Wall Street's first foray into cryptocurrencies, but rather a regulatory measure designed to reduce legal uncertainty in the current ongoing process. Passage of the bill could accelerate the development of new products and the growth of existing projects by providing stronger safeguards for financial institutions. However, even if the bill is defeated, the economic motivation will not completely disappear.
If the Clarity Act is not passed, will cryptocurrency investment accelerate?
Brian Vietten, senior research analyst at Siebert Financial, said passage of the bill could amount to a "green light" for U.S. financial institutions. In this case, it will be easier for companies to increase blockchain investment, develop tokenized products, and gain a position in the digital asset field through acquisitions.
However, Vietten also pointed to another possibility: The failure of the CLARITY bill could cause some companies to act faster rather than wait. According to analysts, as long as the current regulatory environment remains relatively favorable, U.S. companies have financial incentives to accelerate product launches and tokenization activities during 2027-2028. If Congress fails to adopt new regulatory directions, certain activities may advance rather than disappear.
Will Wall Street continue to build cryptocurrency infrastructure?
This approach is based on expectations of business opportunities. Financial companies see long-term market potential in the areas of tokenization and digital assets.
If the bill fails to be introduced, some companies may choose to take advantage of current conditions to launch products as soon as possible, rather than waiting for a change in attitude from future governments or regulators. In this way, uncertainty is no longer a complete obstacle, but may instead become an accelerating factor.
In short, the passage of the CLARITY Act could provide important regulatory convenience to Wall Street. However, the bill's failure does not appear to eliminate the trend of U.S. financial institutions building digital asset infrastructure.
