Payward has entered into a partnership with Gulf Bank of Singapore to provide round-the-clock settlement services to institutional customers.
On October 4, 2026, Payward, Kraken's parent company, announced the establishment of a partnership with Singapore Gulf Bank to provide round-the-clock (7×24 hours) fund settlement services to institutional digital asset customers.
Integrate efficient clearing infrastructure and break traditional time limits
This cooperation incorporates Gulf Bank of Singapore's SGB Net clearing system into Payward's institutional trading and custody operation system. Net handles more than $20 billion in fiat transactions per month. This arrangement allows institutional clients to deposit funds and execute transactions at any time, eliminating the constraints imposed by fixed cut-off periods traditionally limited to standard business hours in each region.
The initial service scope ofcovers US dollar transactions of some customers, and both parties have expressed plans to gradually expand the scope of cooperation in the future.
Two-way liquidity support to build a reciprocal ecosystem
As part of this cooperation, Kraken Prime, Payward's main brokerage business unit, will provide liquidity support to its own customers of Gulf Bank of Singapore. This reciprocal arrangement allows each party's institutional customer base to access the other's infrastructure.
Mark Greenberg, Payward's chief commercial officer, said the integration means "settlements and cross-border payments can be processed in real time, no matter where our customers are," while Shawn Chan, CEO of Gulf Bank of Singapore, pointed out that the collaboration aims to "bring settlement and liquidity more closely" by connecting SGB Net directly to Payward's system.
All-weather settlement becomes a key differentiated advantage for institutional crypto infrastructure
Since the digital asset market is traded around the clock, and traditional bank settlement has historically followed a fixed schedule linked to the time of regional business activities, all-weather settlement has become an increasingly important differentiated competitive advantage for institutional crypto infrastructure providers. Institutions trading in multiple time zones have long pointed out that this mismatch is a source of operational friction and counterparty risk, especially during periods of high volatility, when delayed settlement can cause positions to be exposed for longer than expected.
Deepening institutional layout and expanding global market influence
Following a series of initiatives this year, including the expansion of major brokerage businesses and cooperation with traditional financial institutions, this cooperation further expands Payward's institutional infrastructure layout beyond its core exchange business. By forming alliances with regulated digital banks active in the Gulf and Asian markets, Payward is working to position Kraken's institutional business as a key force in capturing settlement and liquidity businesses in response to the rapidly growing demand for round-the-clock digital asset infrastructure in these regions as institutional trading activities expand.
