Anthropic releases Claude Haiku 5.5: Filling the last piece of the product matrix and preparing for IPO
On October 7, Anthropic released Claude Haiku 5.5, marking that its "Three Musketeers" product line-including Sonnet 5.5 and Opus 5.5-is finally complete. The new model is designed to help users optimize their daily workflow as companies are actively seeking ways to reduce the cost of using artificial intelligence. The timing of the announcement also coincides with Anthropic's preparations for its initial public offering.
Large-scale pricing strategy
According to Anthropic, the average cost of Haiku 5.5 is about 75% lower than Haiku 4.5. For requests up to 100,000 tokens, the price per million input tokens is US$0.10, and the price per million output tokens is US$0.50.
This model is suitable for simple tasks such as summary generation, classification, database query, and execution of actions by artificial intelligence agents. In addition, Anthropic has successfully reduced cache read costs when using Sonnet 5.5. In customer feedback early in the release, Asana stated that its latency was reduced by more than 30%, while Box was 11 percentage points higher than the 4.5 version.
Claude Haiku 5.5 pricing, performance and AI market growth prospects in 2026
The market is growing by 63% annually
Data shows that companies are rapidly increasing their spending in artificial intelligence. According to Gartner estimates, corporate spending on AI models and platforms will increase from US$39 billion in 2025 to US$64 billion this year, an increase of more than 60%.
As AI spending grows, companies have become more cautious in their investment choices. A study conducted by BCG in September found that nearly half of companies have observed value returns from AI. This has increased companies 'need for reasonable pricing and improved results.
The strongest model is not always the best choice
The strongest AI model may not be suitable for all tasks. The World Economic Forum analyzed 44 supplier invoices on August 27 and found that mid-level AI solutions were able to process all invoices, while the more powerful solutions could only resolve 91% of them.
Research results show that the applicability of the model to tasks is more important than ranking. As Cryptopolitan reports, the focus of competition is gradually shifting from benchmark scores to the cost of completing the task.
Catching up with OpenAI, but weak user loyalty
Anthropic is establishing itself among the corporate customer base. The Ramp summer report analyzed the spending of more than 70,000 companies and showed that Anthropic's adoption rate in the U.S. market has surpassed OpenAI.
However, maintaining this lead can be challenging. Because more than half (52%) of the companies using Anthropic or OpenAI are customers of both service providers. A separate study by Ramp showed that the proportion of service providers changed at a record 8 percent in September. This suggests that companies seem increasingly willing to switch between different competing AI services.
