The U.S. spot Ethereum ETF was sold off for the sixth consecutive day, with a single-day outflow of approximately US$408 million.

On Tuesday, the U.S. spot Ethereum exchange-traded fund (ETF) experienced a net outflow of funds for the sixth consecutive trading day, with a cumulative loss of approximately US$408 million during this period. At the same time, the spot Bitcoin ETF reversed on the same day, attracting $119 million in new funds.

Among them, the US$201.89 million outflow from BlackRock's ETHA fund was the largest single withdrawal of funds since September 16. On Tuesday, Ethereum funds fell by $201.89 million overall, recording the sixth consecutive negative trading day. This outflow was all contributed by BlackRock's ETHA fund, and no net capital flow was seen in all other Ethereum ETFs.

On the same day, the total transaction volume of Ethereum-related products was US$719.91 million. Currently, the market value of Ethereum held by these funds is approximately US$17.36 billion, accounting for 5.27% of the total market value of Ethereum. Trading volume increased by approximately $192 million compared to $528.09 million on Monday. Affected by this, the total holdings of Ethereum funds shrank by approximately $330 million from Monday's $17.69 billion. Tuesday's outflow of $201.89 million was about four times Monday's $50.76 million. In the first five trading days of this straight losing trend, no day has a loss exceeded $60 million.

The consecutive decline began with an outflow of US$2.81 million on September 29, followed by withdrawals of US$59.58 million, US$55.37 million, US$37.36 million and US$50.76 million respectively in the following days. Tuesday's outflow was the largest one-day outflow since September 16, when the fund lost $224.11 million. Since its launch, net inflows have dropped to US$13.55 billion. On the last trading day before this consecutive decline (September 28), the cumulative inflow reached US$13.96 billion.

Bitcoin ETF bucked the trend and attracted 122 million yuan, institutions accelerated the deployment of crypto assets

According to Cryptopolitan, on September 21, Bitcoin Fund attracted nearly 999 million US dollars in funds, and Ethereum Fund absorbed 269.98 million US dollars. This is the largest single-day data for both since October 2025. On the day, BlackRock's IBIT led the way with inflows of $381.4 million.

On Tuesday, the Bitcoin ETF achieved a net inflow of $118.86 million, despite the price of Bitcoin falling below $84,000, reversing a $90 million outflow on Monday. BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) absorbed $122 million, and its net inflow exceeded the group's net income even after deducting losses from other funds. Morgan Stanley's spot Bitcoin ETF (MSBT) received a net inflow of $7.84 million on Tuesday, while Grayscale's Bitcoin Mini Trust reported a net outflow of $10.97 million.

At the close, the total net assets of the Bitcoin Fund were US$110.68 billion and trading volume was US$1.84 billion. It is worth noting that the funds flowed in against the backdrop of market declines, with Bitcoin prices slipping below $84,000 from $86,600 above Tuesday.

Jay Jacobs, head of the U.S. Equity ETF at BlackRock, said lowering the threshold for physical transfers has "opened the floodgates" and prompted holders to convert directly held bitcoins into ETF form. He described wealth management companies as gradually turning to holding bitcoin through funds. Depositing coins into an ETF not only gives the issuer custody, but also allows options, hedging and financing strategy operations.

Cryptopolitan reported that Bitcoin funds achieved inflows of US$6.49 billion in the third quarter, setting the best quarterly record for 2026.

The performance of other altcoin ETFs diverged

On Tuesday, Solana Fund reported an outflow of US$3.68 million, while XRP ETF increased inflows of US$3.14 million. Bitwise's XRP fund received an inflow of $10.55 million, offsetting an outflow of $4.07 million from the Franklin XRPZ fund and a outflow of $3.34 million from the Canary XRPC fund. HYPE ETF increased by $2.98 million, while Zcash funds showed no net cash flow.
