The Ethereum Foundation Ecosystem Support Program releases its second quarter 2026 funding report
The Ethereum Foundation Ecosystem Support Program released its second quarter 2026 funding update, which shows that projects related to Ethereum protocol work, security, zero-knowledge research and developer tools received a total of US$5,502,930.20 in awards.
The August 18 update states that these grants are part of a continued focus on Ethereum's resilience and capabilities. The report does not regard this number as a token gift or a change to the economic mechanism of the Ethereum protocol, but rather as a funding report for an ecosystem support program.
Client and protocol work becomes a focus
Among the tasks listed are consensus clients, testing infrastructure, protocol security, and research related to the planned upgrade of Glamsterdam.com. The report mentions projects related to work on Lodestar, Lighthouse and Geth, as well as initiatives on formal verification and cryptography.
Theupdate also lists projects aimed at improving client diversity and testing tools. These areas are operationally critical because Ethereum relies on multiple independent software implementations rather than a single client-side code base.
Zero-knowledge proof, security and application tools
The funding list includes multiple zero-knowledge proof projects involving block proof infrastructure, zkVM research and verification tools. In addition, security-oriented projects are included, such as smart contract tools and work to analyze client risks at the execution and consensus levels.
Other items cover application infrastructure, wallet work and open source developer tools. The foundation said funding this quarter supported builders of the strengthened network, while each project description outlines the intended use of each grant.
What is presented and not presented in the report
This release provides a detailed snapshot of funding rather than a forecast of agreement delivery times, and there is no guarantee that every project will enter production. Readers should distinguish between appropriations, established scope of the project, and completed implementation.
The full report includes project names and descriptions provided by the Ethereum Foundation. The report is the primary source of total allocation amounts and a description of the foundation's plans for the second quarter.
