Ethereum continues its breakout trend, and the market focuses on whether it can recover the US$2,600 barrier.
As traders pay close attention to whether prices can recover further to US$2,600, Ethereum continues to operate above its recent macro breakout range. This trend follows a strong rebound from the $1,900 area and builds on significant gains in the third quarter of 2026.
Current Price and Market Overview
Ethereum trading price is US$2,518.26, up 0.15% from 24 hours ago. The 24-hour trading volume of the cryptocurrency reaches US$22.54 billion, with a market value of US$307.34 billion, and its current market dominance accounts for 11.63%.
Previously, Ethereum hit a local high of $2,665 and then pulled back to the $2,500 region. The recent rebound has allowed Ethereum to recover some of its losses in the first half of 2026 and outperform Bitcoin in the same period.
Technical Analysis and Resistance Zone
Cryptocurrency analyst Alex Marzell pointed out that Ethereum has broken through the long-term downtrend line and is currently operating firmly above the previous breakthrough zone. Marzell observed that ETH has completed a series of key technical milestones, including a rebound in support, breaking through a downward trend and launching an aggressive expansion.
He identified US$2,600 as an immediate price level that requires close attention. Currently, ETH is still slightly below this threshold, so if it continues to stand above $2,600, it will be a key indicator of the strength of this recovery.
Above $2,600, Marzell highlighted $2,800 and $3,000 as the next target areas to watch for, but warned that these goals will only be practical if Ethereum can clearly break through current resistance. "The immediate challenge for Ethereum is breaking the $2,600 mark, which if momentum is maintained will open the way to higher levels of $2,800 or even $3,000," Marzell said.
If the breakthrough can be maintained above the former downtrend area, this level is expected to transform into a new support level. However, if ETH fails to hold on to these gains, the structure could weaken and put prices under new downward pressure.
Support areas and short-term structures
Technical analysis shows that US$2,550 has become the recent resistance level. If Ethereum closes strongly above $2,550 on an hourly chart, it may push further towards $2,650. Conversely, if momentum weakens, the US$2,380 -2,400 area will become a key short-term support level, while US$2,300 is seen as the next demand area when prices fall further.
Analysts 'Views
Analysts believe that if Ethereum can remain above the US$2,400 support level and effectively break through the US$2,550 resistance level, it will provide clearer direction guidance for the next major market. Cryptocurrency commentator Crypto Patel emphasized that ETH rose 60.62% in the third quarter of 2026, overcoming losses in the previous two quarters. This significant recovery has helped Ethereum outperform Bitcoin in recent months.
Outlook and key observation points
Despite the strong third quarter performance, ETH prices are currently trading below recent highs of $2,665 and face immediate resistance between $2,550 and $2,600. Ethereum's ability to maintain upward momentum or consolidate depends on whether it can continue to run above the breakout range. A break above $2,600 could set the stage for a push to higher resistance, while failure to hold current support could change momentum direction in the short term.
The key question now is whether Ethereum can transform the breakout area into lasting support, thus providing a basis for further gains.
