Pumpfun cancels cashback and launches holder rewards

Pumpfun launches a new fee allocation model

Pumpfun has comprehensively reformed its fee structure, eliminated the "Cashback Mode" and launched a new "Holder Rewards" system. The platform now distributes transaction fees on a pro-rata basis to eligible holders multiple times per hour. This change marks an important shift in the way value flows for the Solana-based memocoin launch platform.

The "cashback model" was introduced in February 2026 and aims to shift creator fees from developers to traders who actually drive transaction volume growth. However, over time, many high-transaction-volume tokens on the platform no longer have active development teams. This means that the original "cash back" mechanism still benefits creators disproportionately compared to holders who participate in transactions on a daily basis. The "holder reward system" is the platform's direct response to this structural flaw.

Detailed explanation of the holder reward mechanism

Token creators who launch new projects can now choose between two configurations: one is a standard "creator fee token", with fees flowing to the project team; the other is a "holder reward token", with the same fees continuously redistributed to the holder. The more tokens a holder holds, the higher the return. Any user holding a token worth more than $20 is eligible for the reward.

Existing "cash back" and "creator fee" tokens can be switched through the fee redirection application form. However, it should be noted that once this decision is made, it will be irreversible and permanent. Rewards will be issued in the form of quoted assets for tokens, including $SOL or $PUMP, depending on the type of transaction pair. For transaction pairs denominated in $PUMP, rewards will be distributed in $PUMP itself, thereby establishing a demand channel directly linked to platform activities.

Existing "cashback" tokens will continue to operate normally, and users can still receive previously accumulated rewards. The update is part of Pumpfun's broader strategy to encourage longer holding periods and reduce short-term speculation on the platform.
