ZK-EVM: Work is advancing through specification, testing and client integration. EIP-8025 adds optional proof of execution and is a key milestone for Hegotá. Justin Drake is optimistic that the proof time for most blocks will be about two seconds by 2027, while others highlight gas limitations and state growth as risks.
Privacy: Some researchers expect native privacy transactions in 2027. Drake believes that the probability that the built-in privacy pool will be implemented before the end of 2028 is close to zero.
Formal verification: Tools such as Lean, hax, and Aeneas are helping check signature schemes and zkVM circuits, although end-to-end coverage is not yet complete.
Final certainty: Ben Edgington expects final certainty to drop from about 16 minutes to about 4 minutes early, with a long-term goal of one or two slots.
