Cardano (ADA) surged 10% in a single day to break through the US$27 mark

On Monday, Cardano (ADA) prices rose about 10% in 24 hours, trading above US$0.27, the highest level since May. At the same time, the price of Bitcoin (BTC) remained volatile within a narrow range.

Core Market Points

  • ADA gained about 10% in one day and managed to stabilize above $0.27, the first time the price has appeared since May this year.
  • Bitcoin rose only 1%, maintaining its recent range of fluctuations. There is no single clear catalyst explanation for this trend.
  • Spot trading volume exceeded US$1 billion, but trading volume on Cardano's own decentralized exchange shrank significantly.

Price Breakthroughs and Market Performance

Market data shows that ADA has risen 10% in the past 24 hours and is up 4% since midnight Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). This strong performance dwarfs other members of the mainstream token group. Bitcoin rose only slightly by 1%, continuing to operate in its recent range of $84,000 to $87,000; Ethereum (ETH) rose slightly by 0.5%. During the trading day, ADA's trading range is $0.2442 to $0.2749.

Spot trading volume exceeded US$1 billion in 24 hours, accounting for approximately one-tenth of Cardano's approximately US$10.2 billion market value, making it 15th among cryptocurrency assets.

It is worth noting that this price increase comes as the US dollar index climbs to 102.53, setting a new high since April 2025. Normally, a strong U.S. dollar is seen as a headwind in the cryptocurrency market.

Hoskinson signals Leios upgrade

This price increase is not driven by a single announcement. Market attention is focused on the RealFi agreement, which was launched on Cardano's main website on October 1 to issue dollar-linked stablecoins backed by assets such as treasury bonds and private credit, and claims an annualized yield of up to 9%.

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson forwarded an ADA price chart during the rally with the hashtag "#LeiosIsComing", hinting that a planned expansion upgrade for the network was coming soon. The first phase of the upgrade as part of the Dijkstra era is expected to be completed between late December 2025 and early 2027, aiming to increase transaction throughput.

Derivative traders 'entry deviates from on-chain data

Derivative traders also joined. According to statistics from a tracker, the number of open interest contracts in ADA futures increased by about 15% to more than US$600 million, of which short positions accounted for the vast majority of approximately US$2 million in liquidation volume. However, activity data from the network itself points in the opposite direction: trading volume on the Cardano decentralized exchange has more than halved from nearly $12 million in recent days.

ADA forms "golden cross"

The ADA's 50-day simple moving average crossed the 200-day moving average in early October, forming the first "golden cross" since August 2025. Currently, the Relative Strength Index (RSI) readings hover between 69 and 73, close to what traders regard as overbought levels.

Analysis pointed out that the last gold cross formed did not last, and then a "death cross" occurred in November 2025, causing the ADA price to drop by about 42%.

ADA prices have fluctuated sharply this year. It fell to a low near $0.14 in late June, traded below $0.18 in early August, and then rebounded sharply more than 25% in a week in late September. Even after Monday's surge, the token's price is still about 36% below its January high and about 91% below the historical record of $3.09 set in 2021.
