XRP and HYPE performed well in a difficult week

As most cryptocurrency markets struggled to attract new capital this week, the two altcoins bucked the trend and rallied. According to BSCNews, spot ETF products linked to Ripple (XRP) and Hyperliquid (HYPE) became the only altcoin category to record positive capital inflows. Among them, XRP funds had a net inflow of US$3.14 million this week, while HYPE ETF increased by US$277,000.

This narrow range of inflows highlights how cautious institutional investors have become today. Allocators do not rotate widely to various types of altcoins, but select specific targets and remain on the sidelines in other areas. Institutional funds continue to flow to the most mature crypto ETF categories while withdrawing from newer altcoin products. This model is in line with the "risk-averse" rotation trend within the crypto market: allocators reduce exposure to high-beta assets and maintain core positions.

Background: Altcoin ETF started in October

This week's data came after a turbulent period of altcoin ETF capital flows. According to CryptoPotato, weekly flows into XRP and Solana Spot ETFs fell by more than 94% in the previous week, a sharp pullback after several weeks of steady institutional buying. The fact that XRP can return to positive range so quickly reflects the resilience of the market's demand for this asset.

According to SoValue, although Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs have both seen net outflows three times a week since mid-July, the $XRP ETF has recorded net inflows for 12 consecutive weeks. Since its launch at the end of 2025, the cumulative net inflow of U.S. spot $XRP funds has exceeded US$1.79 billion.

For $HYPE, the situation is more complex. After registering a net outflow in September, Hyperliquid ETF's funds flows turned positive again in October.$ HYPE's rise was supported by strong agreement revenue, continued fee-based repo and injections of funds into the U.S. spot HYPE ETF by institutions such as Bitwise and Grayscale. However, a modest weekly net inflow of just $277,000 suggests that market confidence remains weak compared to earlier this year.

Given that most altcoins face outflows and broader market sentiment is sluggish, the fact that $XRP and $HYPE can attract any net new capital may be the most noteworthy sign this week.
