The Gas base rate has been reduced to 0.0673 gwei

"Gas" is the unit of Ethereum's measurement of the amount of work required for transactions. Regardless of the amount transferred, a simple Ether transfer consumes 21,000 Gas. The base rate is the price per unit of Gas set by the agreement and is measured in gwei (billionth of ether). This price is dynamically adjusted between blocks based on network load.

According to block data for October 11 provided by Ultrasound.money, the average base rate in the past 24 hours was 0.0673 gwei, the lowest block rate was 0.0510 gwei, and the highest was 0.1551 gwei. The weekly average is 0.4210 gwei, and the monthly average is 0.3812 gwei. Since the introduction of the basic rate mechanism in August 2021, the historical average is 18.827 gwei.

The real-time reading is slightly above the average daily: a direct query to the Ethereum node on Sunday afternoon showed the Gas price of 0.077 gwei, which includes the base rate and regular tips for the verifier. The historical low of the base rate is 0.0087 gwei (appears in Block 23,937,362). Although the current level has not touched this extreme, it is still significantly different from the monthly average.

Automatically lower the base rate for semi-full blocks

In absolute terms, the supply of ether increased from 122,116,611 at 14:43 on October 10 to 122,119,572 at the same time on October 11, a net increase of 2,960.61 ether within 24 hours. At a price of US$2,504, the value of new supply in a single day is approximately US$7.4 million.

This figure needs to be understood in context: the annualized growth rate of 0.886% is historically low. Under the old mining mechanism, the annual issuance was 4,930,875 Ethereum, with a growth rate of 4.03%. After the shift to proof-of-stake (PoS) in September 2022, most of the dilution effect has been eliminated, and the combustion mechanism is only an additional fine-tuning indicator. Using slogans such as "ultra-hard money" to judge the current situation often focuses on the wrong order of magnitude.

Pledge Queue Dynamics (Since October 10)

Previous reports pointed out that the buffer pool in the pledge entry queue has been reduced by 252,402 Ethereum (the price was US$2,507 at the time).
