Binance's bitcoin reserves exceeded 693,000, setting a two-year high.
Binance's bitcoin reserves have exceeded 693,000, reaching the highest level in two years. Currently, the bitcoin held by the exchange accounts for approximately 30% of the total reserves of major exchanges. Analysts pointed out that if more investors move bitcoin to exchanges, this growth could signal potential market selling pressure.
Multiple factors behind the surge in reserves
According to CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost, Binance's bitcoin reserves have climbed to more than 693,000, setting a two-year peak. Since late April, Binance's reserves have increased by approximately 77,000, making it one of the exchanges with the largest increases in recent times. The significant increase attracted the attention of traders who closely monitor exchange balances to catch signs of changing market sentiment.
Darkfost said the rise in reserves may reflect investors moving bitcoin to trading and preparing to take profits after a strong market rebound in May and the recent past. In addition, he also pointed out several factors driving the increase in reserves: First, Binance announced that it would use its SAFU fund to invest US$1 billion to acquire approximately 15,000 bitcoins; second, due to the "ColdCard Incident", some users sought higher asset security and increased transfer behavior. These factors together contributed to the rapid increase in Binance's Bitcoin holdings. However, the specific reason for each transfer cannot be fully confirmed based on on-chain data alone.
High reserves may imply future selling risks
The latest Binance Bitcoin reserve data shows that the current supply of Bitcoin on exchanges has increased. This trend is often seen as an important indicator of potential selling activity in the future. While the increase in exchange reserves does not necessarily lead to an immediate decline in prices, it does increase the amount of BTC available for trading in the market. Investors will continue to closely monitor exchange balances, giant whale movements and spot demand to assess whether additional reserves will translate into substantial selling pressure.
